At the skat tournament held on Monday evening last at F.J. Egerer's place, W.F. Pagel won first prize with a score of 666 points. Milton Jones took second prize with the largest number of won plays.

Miss Mary Monahan, who has been ill for some time, was taken to Milwaukee, on Thursday, where she will be treated at a hospital by a specialist. Her sister, Miss Margaret, accompanied her to Milwaukee.

C. L. Norris, aged 82 years, died at his home in Greenleaf on Sunday last. He was a well known character about his old home. For a number of years he corresponded for the DePere Democrat under the nom de plume of "U-Bet."

The Milwaukee Sentinel of Sunday contained a photograph of our townsman, N.M. Hephner, a member of the First Wisconsin Cavalry, and gave an interesting account of the capture of Jeff Davis, by Mr. Hephner and his comrades.
