Died, at Battlefield, Co. Sligo, Ireland on the 3rd day of November, 1865, Mrs. M. Dolan.

The deceased was the mother of the Rev. Father M. J. Dolan, of this village. The residents of Chilton will remember that Miss Dolan, who was on a visit to her brother, was suddenly called home on account of the illness of her mother. She arrived just in time to receive her last embrace.

Mrs. Dolan was a lady of exemplary character, noted during her long life, for charitableness and kindness to the poor, and in her last sickness it is a solace to her friends to know that she had two of her sons to attend her; the Rev. John William Dolan and the Rev. Terence Dolan. The last sacrament was administrated by the Very Reverend William Jackson.

Father Dolan has the deep sympathy of the community in his sad bereavement.

On Monday, March 18th, Patrick Duffy, aged 61 years 4 days.

The deceased was born Roscommon county, Ireland, March 14, 1840. He came to American with his parents when three years of age and located with them in Rhode Island. In 1853 they came to Stoney Brook, in the town of Chilton, where his father Philip Duffy, was one of the pioneer settlers. The home which he built in the wilderness, three and one half miles west of this city, was known far and wide for its hospitality and many a weary traveler found shelter and food beneath its roof.

Patrick Duffy was the only son of this good man and necessarily had much to do in making the home and clearing the forest. He was married to Miss Mary Bowen, November 23, 1868 and settled on the, old homestead where he and his family enjoyed the fruits of his labor until 1899 when he sold the farm and moved to this city.

Some eight years ago Mr. Duffy was stricken with paralysis and since that time and until his death has been in ill health. He is survived by a widow, four sons, Henry, Edward, and Daniel of Chicago, and Will of this city: and three daughters, Mrs. T. Moran, of Chilton, and Misses Blanche and Susie of this city. The funeral occurred on Wednesday from St, Augustine's church.

On Wednesday, November 8, 1905, Mrs. Susan E. Davis, of this town of Chilton, passed away after a lingering illness at her home in Brant. Mrs Davis was a daughter of Hugh and Elizabeth Jones and was born in Cardiganshire, Wales, March 24, 1842.

She came to America with her parents in 1848, first settling in Dodge county, Wis., and later in Rosendale, Fond du Lac county, where she was married to Evan Davis Jan. 6, 1863, when, with her husband she came to a farm owned by him in the town of Chilton. Here they lived and prospered many years and in frugality and industry established and enjoyed a comfortable home which they occupied until about four years ago when Mrs. Davis' health declining, the farm was rented to a nephew. Frank Davis who still occupies it.

Mrs. Davis was distinguished by her hospitality and kindness of heart, thus earning the love of her neighbor and acquaintances. She not only felt for the woes of the afflicted but ever ready to sacrifice her own convenience and comfort to minister tot heir wants. Being highly intelligent, she took a deep interest in political and social reforms, the world over, rejoicing with enthusiasm in the triumph of the cause of humanity everywhere. While liberal and tolerant of the views of others, she was a courageous and earnest advocate of the right-as she saw the right. She was a typical American housekeeper and had Nature blessed her with children would have been a model mother as she was an affectionate wife. It is common to speak well if the dead and to avoid as much as possible their faults. We are able to do but scant justice to the virtues of this noble woman and if she had faults they were not discovered by those who know her best. Another of the early settlers has gone before and it is more to our advantage than hers if her virtues and example are not soon forgotten.

Rev. C. De Louw, pastor of St. Francis church. Died at his home at West Holland, Saturday morning. Father De Louw was born in Holland in 1839, of humble parentage, his father Martin De Louw, being a clothmaker. He was consecrated to the priesthood in 1866, and immediately detailed for missionary work which he very successfully prosecuted through Belguim and Holland. Bishop Melchoir, of Green Bay diocese, summoned him to Wisconsin in 1871, his first work here also being on missions in the territory adjacent to Green Bay. His first parish was at East Wrightstown, where he served several years. He was next made pastor of a much more influential congregation, that of the Holland church in the city of Green Bay, for a period of three years. He was next appointed to St. John's Niponroe church at Little Chute, the early pioneer church of the Fox River valley. Early in 1884 he was sent to take charge of what proved to be his last earthly Work, St. Francis church at Hollandtown. He remained pastor of this, the richest country parish in this section of the state for a longer period of time than any other priest ever sent there.

He died at this post, beloved by every member of the congregation of 300 families, and respected by all who had ever known him. Father De Louw, soon after being appointed to his last charge in 1886, was made a dean of the Green Bay diocese by Bishop Katzer, and later a member of the bishop's council.

During the month of June, 1889, St. Francis church was struck by lighting and totally consumed by fire, destroying many costly relics and much valuable church, paraphernalia. Father De Louw was greatly depressed over the loss of his church and its contents, and seemed completely broken until a visit of the bishop and many of the priests of the diocese caused him to gather his faculties and make arrangements for a large and more enduring structure, which he bulit of solid brick and stone, and which was completed at a cost, with its furniture, of over $20,000. The effort combined with the worry proved to much for him, causing much apprehension to his friends. He succumbed at last to Bright's disease. The funeral was held Tuesday morning a 10 o'clock from the church, and was in charge of Bishop Messmer of the Green Bay diocese, assisted by all the priest of the diocese.

At his home in Brant on Wednesday, June 15th, Sumner Deming, aged 60 years and two days. The deceased was born in New York state. He came to Wisconsin in 1856 and located in the town of Hartford, Washington county, where he remained one year and then moved to Center, Outagamie county. In 1884 he purchased the John Harsh farm in Chilton town and moved with his family to that town. Some twenty-seven years ago while clearing his farm, a tree fell on him and he has since been an invalid. He bore his suffering through life with true christian fortitude till the last. He was highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and four sons to mourn his death. The funeral took place at Brant on Friday.

The funeral of Mrs. Katherine Durben, which took place on Sunday morning last, was attended by a large number of out citizens. After services at St. Mary's Catholic church the remains were conveyed to the family burial lot at Marytown. Those from outside who attended the funeral were Michael Durben and son, Peter of Oconto, John Durben and son Peter, of Gillett, Mrs. Geo. Shellack, of Milwaukee and Mrs. Math Philippi, of Hull.

Killed At Forest Junction - Lawrence Dowd, a well to do and respectable citizen of Askeaton, Brown county, was found dead on the right of way of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul railroad track, one and one quarter miles west of the depot at Forest Junction, on Friday morning of last week.

Mr. Dowd had, the evening before attended a fire at the Dome of Dennis Fox and on his way home stopped at Forest Junction until about one o'clock a. m. when he started for home at Askeaton, along the railroad track, and met with the accident that resulted in his death.

After word had reached this city District Attorney Paulen ordered an investigation and a jury was summoned at Forest and an inquest held. The verdict of the jury was in accordance with the facts above stated, and that the death of Dowd was the result of the accident, no blame being attached to anyone.

Mr. Dowd was a young man, being only 35 years of age, and was a brother of Mrs. Michael Flatley, of the town of Brillion. He was unmarried, and besides the above named sister, leaves a brother, who resides in Askeaton, and a host of friends.

He bore an excellent reputation, as was evidence by the numerous friends present to render assistance to the undertaker. Mr. Hugh Eldridge in preparing the body for burial and to accompany the remains to his home. His body was conveyed to Askeaton and was buried on Saturday. His funeral was largely attended.

In the town, Chilton, on the 16th inst., Mrs. Bridget Duffy, wife of Phillip Duffy Esq. The deceased was a native of the Parish of Killgavin, County of Roscommon, Ireland, aged 73 years.

We are pained to chronicle the death of Mrs. Duffy, she having resided in our town for twenty-one years. She was so genial in her intercourse, of a sympathy so quick, and ready, so kind, affectionate and generous, that there seemed combined in her all the qualities which challenged the love and admiration of those who best knew her, and endeared her to the hearts of her friends. Upon her family has this blow fallen with crushing force. No words of human sympathy or condolence can staunch the wound of bleeding affection and it is alone to "Him who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb" that the appeal must be made. She was a firm believer in the Roman Catholic faith, and gave to the poor with Christian benevolence, none went from her door hungry or cold. An affectionate and devoted wife and kind and indulgent mother and an exemplary and consistent Christian. She submitted to Him who doeth all things well, with Christian resignation. Her home and friends were ever cheered and made happy by her presence and when she was called to rest.

"Like one that wraps the drapery of her couch, about her, lay down to pleasant dreams."

At his residence, in the town of Chilton, on the 28th inst, Phillip Duffy aged 81 years.

The deceased was born in the parish of Lisonuffy, Co. Roscommon, Ireland, from whence he emigrated to the United States in 1843; and settled at Providence, Rhode Island, where he remained until 1853, when he removed to the Stony Brook settlement, 3 miles west of this city. About six years ago his wife preceded him to the world beyond the tomb and he now leaves surviving him seven daughters and one son - all married - viz, Mrs. Martin Duffy, of Chilton; Mrs. Patrick Morris, of Rhode Island; Mrs. Timothy Connor, of Fond du Lac; Mrs. Wm Nolan, of Chilton; Mrs. Ole Swensen, of Iowa; Mrs. John Minaghan, Mrs. Stephen Vallily and Patrick Duffy, of Chilton, all of whom have the heartfelt sympathy of all who know them, in this sad hour of affliction.

We have been intimately acquainted with the deceased for over 20 years and can truly say that we never met a more hospitable man, or truer friend than he was, and our case is only similar to that of all with whom he came in contact. No person ever went to him in distress that went away empty handed and the number of early settlers he assisted every way that lay in his power is innumerable. But he has departed for a holier and happier sphere, but while memory exists his generous neighborly acts will never be forgotten, while the noble example he set, as an upright man and good citizen, will endure and bear fruit to the end of time. Requiscat en pace.

Joseph Dhein Sr. died at the advanced age of 76 years, at the home of his son Andrew G. Dhein, near the city of Sheboygan, on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1904.

The decedent was a native of Germany. He came to this country with his parents in 1848 and settled in the town of Mosel, Sheboygan county when that section was an unbroken wilderness. In 1853 he was married to Christian Will and by thrift and hardwork made a choice farm. In 1888 he sold his farm and moved to St. Nazianz where he resided until last spring when he disposed of his property and made his home with his son near Sheboygan.

While a resident of Sheboygan county he held many offices of trust. He was a man of strong character, upright and honest and beloved by everyone who knew him. He leaves a widow, three sons Wm. Dhein of Charlestown, Jos. Dhein Jr., of Centerville, Andrew G. Dhein of Sheboygan, one daughter Mrs. Math. Hauck of Spring Valley, one sister Mrs. Michael Here and 18 grandchildren. The funeral took place at Sheboygan, Friday.

Age 80, died on May 21, 2002 at Western Village Health and Rehabilitation Center in Green Bay. She was born on March 31, 1922 in St. Anna; daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret {Schwarz} Daun. She worked for many years at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Green Bay. She is survived by three sisters: Delaphine Casper, Green Bay; Leonelda Reichwald, Green Bay; and Marie {Delmar} Holst, Chilton; a sister-in-law, Rita Daun; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Leander, and Elmer Daun; and a sister, Veronica Zarnoth. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2002 with the Rev. Gary New S.D.S. officiating. Burial of her cremains will take place in St. Mary Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home, 411 W. Main St., Chilton on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Margaret Dukelow died in Calumet county, wife of Richard Dukelow and dau. of Richard White

Died at his home in Christie Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, at 6 o'clock, Don Demouth was born in Charlestown, Calumet County, August 25, 1862. When nine years of age he moved with his parents to Clark Co., where they settled on the farm still owned by his mother, Mrs. C. E. Demouth, who survives him, his father having died nearly six years ago. He has always remained on the old farm except two years spent in Oregon, and he has been a faithful son. Three years ago he and his brother Samuel returned to the old homestead where they have remained ever since.

Beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, age 69 of 103 E. Washington Street, Appleton formerly of Stockbridge and Chicago died on Friday, March 29, 2002 at home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 27, 1933 in Chilton daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn {Price} Fox. Elizabeth married Philip F. DeFilippo on October 25, 1958 in Chicago. He preceded her in death August 19, 1991. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton and a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. She was active in volunteer work for the churches in the surrounding area and often times seen riding her bike or walking to many church activities. Elizabeth will always be remembered for her life long devotion to God and the Blessed Virgin Mary. She will also be remembered for her loving smile, her kindness, her outgoing personality, her compassion, her zest for life and her appreciation for all of God's creation. She is survived by three children {Two sons and a daughter}; four sisters; three brothers; also cousins, nieces, nephews, several of her many special friends: Marilea and Ron Hopfensperger, Stanley and Elaine Pikor, Don Bieschke, John and Katie Schumacher, Grace School and Marie Jacobs. Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Martin Fox officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Parish Cemetery on Tuesday. Friends may call at the church in Stockbridge from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Mrs. Catherine Dohr, 74, a former county resident, died at her home in Milwaukee Sept. 20 after an illness of four weeks.

Mrs. Dohr, nee Catherine Wettstein, was born in the town of Chilton, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Wettstein. She attended schools in Jericho. She was married to John Dohr at Hilbert.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and the G. U. G. Germania.

Survivors include five daughters: Mrs. Donald Miller, Mrs. Mathew Hahn, Mrs. Fred Rosenkranz, and Mrs. Thomas Boyle, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Lawrence Meltes, Saukville; four sons, Norman of Gafton, Theodore of Two Rivers, and Simon and Joseph of Milwaukee; two brothers, Simon Wettstein of Chilton and Albert of New Holstein; Three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Seichter, Kiel and Mrs. August Propson and Mrs. John Propson, Chilton; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday at the Becker Funeral home, Milwaukee, at 8:30 a.m.; and at St. Thomas Aquinas church, Milwaukee, at 9 o'clock. The body will be in state at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home here from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery here.

Mrs. Katherine A. Dohr, nee Wettstein, 74, a former resident of Chilton, passed away Wednesday morning at her home in Milwaukee.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Donald E. Miller, Mrs. Math. Hahn, Mrs. Fred Rosenkranz, and Mrs. Thomas Boyle, of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Lawrence Meltes of Saukville; four sons, Norman of Grafton, Theodore of Two Rivers, Simon and Joseph of Milwaukee; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m., Friday - at the Joseph H. Becker Funeral home, 54th street and Lisbon avenue, Milwaukee and 9 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church, 35th street and Brown avenue, Milwaukee.

Following the services the body will be returned to Chilton and will lie in state at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home until 3 p.m. At that time burial services will be held at the St. Mary�s cemetery in Chilton.

Mrs. Lambert Daun, 78, of the Town of Stockbridge, died at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, Wednesday where she was a patient 10 days. She had been ill several years.

Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Chilton, and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic church, Stockbridge. The Rev. William Willinger will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Daun, the former Elizabeth Wettstein, was born May 14, 1889, in the Town of Stockbridge, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Wettstein. She was married to Mr. Daun Oct. 28, 1915, at Kloten, Calumet County, and he preceded her in death Oct. 21, 1950. She was a member of the Christian Mothers society.

Surviving is a son, Cyril, of the Town of Stockbridge. A son preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday where at 8 p.m. the Rosary will be recited.

Charles Daun, 75, of the Town of Brothertown, died at Guardian Angel Nursing Home, Green Bay, Wednesday where he had resided since February. He had been ill for two years.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Chilton, and at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. The Rev. Francis Melchoirs will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Daun was born in the Town of Brothertown February 8, 1890, son of the late John and Theresa Steiner Daun. He farmed in the Town of Brothertown until five years ago when he retired. He married Magdalena Rollmann November 23, 1920, at Holy Rosary Catholic church, New Holstein.

Survivors are his wife of Kiel; eight daughters, Mrs. Robert {Marie} Gust of Milwaukee, Misses Genevieve and Virginia of Kiel, Mrs. Robert {Cordula} Keltesch of St. Anna, Mrs. Tullio {Theresa} Nucciarone of LaMirado, Calif., Mrs. Leroy {Rita} Drake of Elkhart Lake, Mrs. Anthony {Dorothy} Nadler of Chilton and Mrs. Charles {Carol} Northway of Green Bay; two sons, Benjamin on the home farm and Cpl. Charles Jr., in the Marines at New York City; a brother, Peter of Charlesburg and 28 grandchildren. Four children preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday where at 8 p.m. the Rosary will be recited.

Miss Laura Diedrick, 75, a resident of Calumetville since 1965 died at 10 p.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Hospital.

She was born in the Town of Brothertown on June 30, 1897, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Doern Diedrich.

Miss Diedrick attended Calumetville area schools and nursing school in Chicago. She was a nurse in Chicago and Milwaukee all her life until retirement. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Malone, and Ladies Aid Society.

Her only immediate survivor is a sister, Mrs. Rosa Burg of Calumetville. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Malone, with the Rev. Carl Fried officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memory Park Cemetery at Appleton.

Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. Tuesday and until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Erbe-Evjean Funeral Home, New Holstein, and at the church from 11:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Malone.

Appolonia Dorn, 86 of St. Anna, died Thursday morning, December 21, 2000 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, where she was a patient for the past week.

She is the former Appolonia Rollmann born Jan. 3 1914 in New Hostein, daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Wettstein Rollmann.

On Oct 4, 1938, she married Joseph Dorn at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1979.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, St Anna and a member of the Christian Mothers Society. She also was a volunteer worker at the Salvatorian Center, New Holstein.

Survivors include her children, Charlotte Dedering, Kathleen Heimerl, JoAnn Wenzel, Donna Jacques, Janice Mand, Sue Pitzen, Joe Jr, and Debbie Dorn.

Survivors also include 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Minnie L. Dishaw, 94, formerly of 2108 Broadway Street, New Holstein, died Monday at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, where she resided since June 7, 1974.

Born in Chilton on June 2, 1880, she was the daughter of John and Eliese Libke Holthusen. She attended New Holstein area schools and was graduated from Kiel High School in 1898.

On March 26, 1903, she was married to Egbert J. Bosma at New Holstein, and he died April 25, 1925. She was then married to Henry Dishaw on Feb 18, 1928, and he preceeded her in death on Nov. 18, 1957.

Mrs. Dishaw was a charter member of Royal Neighbors of America New Holstein Camp 4484, and a long-term president of the former New Holstein Cemetery Assoication Auxiliary.

Surviving are three sons, John Bosma and New Holstein, Verdun Bosma of Mobile, Ala., and Duane Bosma of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Miss Mildred Bosma at home; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Harry Greve of Spencer. A daughter, son and two sisters preceeded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Erbe-Evjen Funeral Home, New Holstein. The Rev. Albert K. Burns of St. John's United Church of Christ, New Holstein, will officiate. Burial will be in New Holstein City Cemetery.

Visitation for Mrs. Dishaw will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Fritz Drum, father-in-law of our assistant postmaster Frank Stirn, was killed in an accident Fri. night at Maple Grove. He was returning home from Reedsville, but after crossing the railroad tracks, the express train roared by, alarming his horse that ran away. He was thrown from the wagon and died soon after. He was 65, a widower, and leaves 6 children of whom 2 are married, a son and a daughter. His funeral was Mon. in Brillion conducted by the G.A.R.

Alfred J. Daun, 79, 415 Dove Ave., Chilton, formerly of Jericho, died on Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton, following a three month battle with cancer. He was born on May 19, 1919, in the Town of Brothertown, son of the late Henry and Anna {Karls} Daun. He married Ottilia Kolbe on May 8, 1940, at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown. He was a mechanic for the Robert Lavey Garage in Jericho and worked for the Giddings & Lewis Co. in Fond du Lac for 30 years until retiring in 1981. He also worked as a volunteer at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho, where he had served as a trustee and an usher. He was a member of the Catholic Family, Brothertown Fishing Club and Sturgeon for Tomorrow. At Giddings & Lewis he served as president and belonged to the Supervisors Club and was a member of the Staff Club and the Old Timers Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ottilia {Tillie}; a son, James {Darlene} Daun, Hilbert; two daughters, Shirley {Jim} Hagenow, Kiel; Mary Ann {Alan} Gooding, Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Brian, Kelly, Julie, Eric, Roxanne, Nicole, Jessica, Lisa, Gina; five great-grandchildren, Dwayne, Erica, Faith, Tristian, Garrett; a sister, Josine Schreiner, New Holstein; two brothers, Jerry {Eunice} Daun, Chilton; La Vern {Chibby} Daun, Chilton; a sister-in-law, Anna Marie Daun, New Holstein; a brother-in-law, Ralph {Shirley} Heus, New Holstein; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Olga Heus; three brothers, Sylvester, Ervin and Severin Daun.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho, with the Rev. Carey Lahrs S.D.S. and the Rev. Leander Nickel officiating. Spring burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral home in Chilton from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. when family prayers will be held. A Parish Prayer Service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Although sickness and pain touched Dad's life, and even though the physical body is impaired, the spirit can remain triumphant. Sickness is really so limited... It cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot corrode faith, it cannot eat away peace, it cannot destroy confidence, it cannot kill friendship, it cannot shut out memories, it cannot silence courage, it cannot invade the soul, it cannot reduce eternal life, it cannot quench the spirit, it cannot lessen the power of the resurrection. Mrs. Anna Daun, 80, formerly of R. 3, Chilton, widow of Henry, died Monday morning at Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, where she had been a resident since April, 1972.

The former Anna Karls was born in Marytown on April 6, 1894, daughter of the late Mathew and Catherine Pauly Karls.

She attended Marytown schools and on April 23, 1913 was married to Mr. Daun in Marytown.

Mrs. Daun was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic, Jericho, and its Christian Mothers Society.

Survivors include six sons, Sylvester and Jerome, both of Chilton, Ervin, Alfred and LaVern, all of R. 3 Chilton, and Severin of New Holstein; a daughter, Mrs. Paul {Josine} Schreiner of R. 3 Chilton, 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph of New Holstein and Herman R. 2, New Holstein, and a sister, Mrs. Norbert Schmitz of New Holstein.

She was preceded in death by a daughter.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Church, Jericho, with the Rev. Ronald Reimer, Pastor, celebrant. Family rites will be held at 9:30 in the Erbe-Evjen Funeral Home, New Holstein. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a wake service there at 8:30 p.m. and a Christian Mothers rosary at 8:45.

Anton Daun, 79, of Charlesburg, passed away Saturday morning at his home.

He was born in the town of Brothertown on May 5, 1873, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Daun. He attended St. Charles parochial school at Charlestown and was married in that community on Nov. 22, 1898, to Anna Mahlberg.

In 1938 the couple retired from farming and moved to Charlesburg. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Charles Catholic Church. Mrs. Daun passed away on Jan. 7, 1941.

Survivors include two sons, Hugo of Mt. Calvary, and Roland of New Holstein; four daughters, Mrs. Erwin {Viola} Schaeffer of Flint, Mich., Mrs. Alex {Sally} Schaeffer of New Holstein, Mrs. Victor {Alma} Feldner and Mrs. Glenroy {Esther} Boll, both of Charlesburg; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers, Peter and Charles, both of Charlesburg; and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Joas of Stockbridge, and Mrs. Catherin Wilberschied, Mrs. Mary Boehnlein and Mrs. Margaret Pethan; all of Chilton.

A grandson, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the Erve-Hoffman Funeral home, Chilton and at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. The Rev. Francis J. Melchoir will be celebrant of the requiem high mass and burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will lie in state after 7 p.m. today. The Holy Name society will pray the Rosary at 8 p.m. today and the congregation, led by Father Melchoir, will pray the Rosary at 8 p.m., Tuesday.

Mrs. William J. Daun, 77, of Rt. 2, Chilton, died Tuesday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Chilton, and St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. The Rev. VF. J. Melchiors will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Daun, nee Catherine Hoffmann, was born April 14, 1892, in Town of Brothertown, daughter of the late Simon and Theresa Leitner Hoffmann. She was married to William Daun June 17, 1913, and he died July 31, 1940. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Mission societies and G.U.G. Germania Lodge.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John {Bertilla} Muellenbach, of Rt. 2, Chilton, four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Two sons, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday where at 7:30 p.m. the societies' membership will recite the Rosary and at 8 p.m. a parish vigil will be conducted.

Funeral services for Christoph Daun, 76, New Holstein, R. 1, who passed away Saturday evening at Sheboygan St. Nicholas Hospital, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. Daun was a retired farmer and cannery worker before his retirement.

The Rev. Lambert D. Scanlan, pastor, was the celebrant at the requiem high mass. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Ernest Daun, Erwin Krebsbach, Severin Daun, Robert Turba, Frank Krebsbach and Gregory Winkel.

Henry J. Daun, 67 of 1928 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died Tuesday afternoon at Plymouth Hospital after suffering a heart attack while returning home from a visit with friends.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Erbe-Hoffman Funeral Home, New Holstein, and at 9:30 am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev Lambert Scanlan will officiate and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery at Jericho.

Daun was born at Marytown Sept 24, 1892, son Mr. and Mrs. Adam Daun. He married Anna Karls Apr 23, 1914, and the couple farmed near Jericho until moving to New Holstein six years ago. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Holy Rosary Church.

Surviving are his wife, six sons, Sylvester, Alfred, Ervin, Jerome and LaVern of Chilton and Severin of New Holstein; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Heus of Marytown and Mrs. Paul Schreiner of Chilton; three brothers, John of Fond du Lac, Joseph of Chilton and Richard of Green Bay; a sister, Mrs. Edmuind Turba of St. Anna, and 25 grandchildren.

Henry J. Daun, 67, of 1928 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died suddenly at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He was born Sept. 24, 1892 in Marytown, the son of Adam and Catherine Roehrig Daun. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School and on April 23, 1914 he married Anna Karls of Marytown at St. Mary's Catholic Church there.

He was a Jericho farmer all his life until he retired three years ago and moved to New Holstein. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and the church's Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife; six sons, Sylvester, Ervin, Alfred, LaVerne and Jerome, all of Chilton, and Severin of New Holstein; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph {Olga} Heus of Marytown and Mrs. Paul {Josine} Schreiner of Chilton; 25 grandchildren; three brothers, John of Fond du Lac, Joseph of Chilton and Richard of Green Bay; and one sister, Mrs. Edmund Turba of St. Anna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, following family rites at 9 a.m. at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral Home. The Rev. Lambert Scanlan, pastor, will be celebrant of the requiem Mass and burials will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery at Jericho.

John J. Daun, 80, a R. 1, Hilbert farmer, died Saturday at Calumet Memorial Hospital after an illness of 10 days.

Born July 23, 1883 in Marytown, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Daun. His marriage to the former Katie Heimerl occurred June 20, 1911.

In 1911 they moved to their present farm three miles northeast of Stockbridge where he actively farmed until his illness 10 days ago.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stockbridge, the church's Holy Name Society and the parish's cemetery association for many years.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Edgar and Albert F., both of R. 1, Hilbert, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Percy Halbach of Fond du Lac; and one brother Joseph Daun of Hilbert.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's church, Stockbridge. The Rev. William Willinger, pastor, will be celebrant of the requiem Mass and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Schinderle Funeral Home in Stockbridge until the time of services. A parish Rosary will be recited there at 8 o'clock tonight.

Joseph Daun, 83, of Hilbert, died Monday at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, after a lingering illness.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1892 at Marytown, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Daun.

On Feb. 11, 1919, he married Mathilda Weber at Hilbert.

After marriage the couple farmed in the Town of Chilton until 1948.

His wife died on Oct. 15, 1946.

He moved to Hilbert in 1948 and was employed at the Aluminum Specialty Co., Chilton, for several years.

Mr. Daun was a member of St. Mary Catholic church, Hilbert, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Men's Club of the church.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William {Patricia} Huebner of Evansville; a son, Arthur, of R. 3, Chilton; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A son, a sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Pfeffer-Wieting Funeral Home, Chilton. The Rev. Anthony Birdsall, pastor, will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m.. today until the time of services. Service of the wake will be at 8 this evening at the funeral home and the Rosary will be recited at 8:30 by the Men's Club and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Joseph A. Daun, 78, of 106 E. Main St., Chilton, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rocky Knoll Sanitorium and Hospital near Plymouth, where he had been a patient for two months.

Mr. Daun, who operated a tavern and the Great Northern Hotel in Chilton before his retirement in 1948, had been in ill health for the past year.

Born in Marytown on July 23, 1883, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Daun.

A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, he also belonged to the Catholic Knights {St. Anna Branch}, and the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown.

On Sept. 6, 1904, he married Margaret Schwarz at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown.

She survives, along with five daughters, Mrs. Fred Zarnoth of Milwaukee, Mrs. Robert Casper and Mrs. Ervin Reichwald, both of Green Bay, Mrs. Delmar Holst of Chilton, Miss Delores Daun at home, and three sons, George of Valders and Leander and Elmer, both of Chilton.

Also surviving are two brothers, John of Fond du Lac, Richard of Green Bay; a sister, Mrs. Edmund Turba of St. Anna; 21 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Joseph A. Daun, 79, formerly of 106 Main St., Chilton, died Sunday at Calumet Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Thursday. She had been living at the Anna Reiss Home in Sheboygan for the past two years.

The former Margaret Schwarz, she was born Dec. 23, 1884, in the Town on Charlestown, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Schwarz. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church, Chilton, the Christian Mothers Society, the Daughters of Isabell, Mission Society and GUG Germania Society.

She was married to Joseph A. Daun Sept. 6, 1904, at St. Mary's Church, Marytown. He died Jan. 23, 1962.

Surviving are three sons, George, Valders, and Leander and Elmer, both of Chilton; five daughters, Mrs. Fred {Veronica} Zarnoth, Milwaukee, Mrs. Robert {Delphine} Casper, Mrs. Ervine {Neoelda} Rechwald, both of Green Bay, Mrs. Delmar {Marie} Holst, Chilton, and Mrs. Delores Daun, Sheboygan; a brother, Andrew Schwarz, Hilbert; two sisters, Sister Mary Camilla, Order of St. Francis, South Plaines, Wis., and Mrs. Peter Geiser, Chilton, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services in Chilton will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, and at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Henry J. Schmitt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Peter Daun, 93, a former Charlesburg resident, died Friday morning at Toth Nursing Home, Chilton, where he had been a resident for a year. He had been ill the past several months.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home in Chilton, and at 10:30 a.m. at St.Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. The Rev. Francis J. Melchoirs will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Daun was born Jan 6, 1875 at Charlesburg, Town of Brothertown, son of the late John and Theresa Steiner Daun. He married Susanna Winkel Nov. 23, 1900 at Marytown. She preceded him in death Feb. 21, 1941.

During his lifetime he farmed in the Town of Charlestown for 25 years, and then moved to Charlesburg, where he operated a farm for 35 years. Both farms are now owned by relatives. He then retired and moved to Charlesburg 16 years ago where he made his home with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wencel Hoerl. He was a supervisor for the Town Board of Brothertown and was a church trustee for several years. Mr. Daun was a member of the church Holy Name Society and Catholic Knights of Wisconsin Charlesburg Branch 118.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wencel {Angela} Hoerl of Charlesburg and Mrs. John J. {Amanda} Keuler of Chilton; 11 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were four brothers, five sisters and a son, Walter, who died in 1962.

Philip Daun, 73, of Route 1, New Holstein, died Monday evening at his home, just south of the New Holstein city limits, after a two-weeks illness.

Born July 5, 1880 at Marytown, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Daun, he attended parochial schools and on Jan. 16, 1906, was married to Miss Anna Weber at Marytown. Prior to his illness, Mr. Daun was employed by the Arps Corporation at New Holstein. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the parish.

Survivors are his wife; one son, Ernest, New Holstein; a daughter, Miss Romilda, at home; three grandchildren, five brothers, Christ and Henry of New Holstein, Joseph of Chilton, John of Fond du Lac, and Richard of Green Bay, and a sister, Mrs. Edmund Turba, St. Anna.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein, with the Rev. Peter VanDyke, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Erb-Hoffmann Funeral home at New Holstein from 7 o'clock this evening until the hour of the church services.

The rosary will be recited at the Holy Rosary Church at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Richard Daun, 72, native of Marytown, died unexpectedly this morning at his rural Green Bay home.

Born Dec. 8, 1896 in Marytown, he was the son of the late Adam and Katherine Roehrig Daun. He was married to the former Frances Stenz of Jericho. The couple lived in New Holstein for several years before moving to the Green Bay area.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Zeke {Rosee} Drzwicki and Mrs. Norbert {Lorena} Graves, both of Green Bay; tow sons, Gerald of Sumico, Wis. and Robert of Madison; ten grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Edmund Turba of St. Anna.

A requiem Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's The Baptist Catholic Church in the Town of Howard and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Charlesburg, Wis, Mrs. Susanna Daun, wife of Peter Daun, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Monday at her home in Charlesburg.

Deceased was born Aug. 11, 1876 in Marytown, the daughter of the late Mathias and Magdalina Roehrig Winkel. On November 23, 1899, she was united in marriage to Peter Daun at St. Mary's church in Marytown. The couple lived on a farm at Charlestown for 25 years and for the last 16 years lived on the present farm located in the town of Brothertown on-half mile east of Charlesburg where the body may be viewed.

She was a faithful member of the Christian Mother society of St. Charles parish and also a ember of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. She was a kind and devoted wife and mother and her passing will be keenly felt by members of the family.

Survivors are the widower and one son, Walter, on the farm; two daughters, Mrs. John {Amanda} Keuler of Chiltona nd Mrs. Wenzel {Angela} Hoerl who lived with her parents; seven grandchildren; on sister, Sophia Krebsbach, and eight brothers, John, Joe, Jacob, Philip, Lambert, August, John J. and Richard Winkel. Two sisters, Mrs. John Roehrig and an infant preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles church in Charlesburg with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Leo F. Binder will officiate.

Kiel - Mrs. Andrew Dhein, 57, well-known Kiel resident, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, after a short illness.

The deceased, nee Anna Michels, a daughter of the late John and Mary Michels, was born in Chilton township on April 24, 1887, and attended schools in that community there. She was married to Andrew Dhein of Kiel on Oct. 28, 1912, and the couple moved to a farm home west of Kiel, where they have resided since.

Mrs. Dhein was a devout member of the Christian Mothers' society of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, and was a member of the parish and its activities. She was a member of the local Girl Scout council and was well-known for her activity in Red Cross work.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Norbert {Glenrose} Miller, Kiel; and the Misses Grace and Virginia Dhein, Milwaukee; one son, Pvt. Frances W. Dhein, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; three grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Mary E. Michels, Sheboygan; four sisters, Mrs. John Gebhardt, Mrs. A. J. Dreis and Mrs. E. B. Halloran, all of Sheboygan, and Miss Margaret Michels, Milwaukee, and one brother, H. C. Michels, Chicago.

The body will lie in state at the Meiselwitz Funeral home from Friday afternoon until 9 a.m. Saturday when services will be held at the funeral home and at 9:30 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church. The Rev. F. X. Kheil, pastor of the church will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

The rosary will be recited at the church at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Herman Dix, 49, 911 Crooks Ave. Kaukauna, died at 6:15 Wednesday evening. He was born in the town of Woodville on June 5, 1878. The survivors are his widow, two daughters, Mildred and Helen; five brothers, William and Phillip Dix of Kaukauna and Henry Killian of Kaukauna, Andrew Killian of Manitowoc and Adolph Killian of Washington; two sisters, Mrs. R. S. Schermitzler of Kaukauna and Mrs. Townsey of Kaukauna. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the home and at 1:30 at the Immanuel Reformed church at Kaukauna. The Rev. E. J. Worthman will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery at Kaukauna.

Roland J. Daun, 63, of R. 2, New Holstein, died Wednesday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

He was a life-long resident of the area and was born in the town of Stockbridge, Calumet County, on Feb. 13, 1908, son of the late Anton and Anna Mahlberg Daun. He attended area schools.

On June 2, 1945, he married Veronica LaCroix at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel.

For the past six years, Mr. Daun was employed at the Lausen Engine Division of Tecumseh Products, New Holstein. He was previously employed at Kestell Furniture Co., New Holstein.

Mr. Daun was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg, its Holy Name Society and a member of the senior choir for 33 years. He was a member of local 1259 of the International Association of Machininsts and Aerospace Workers.

Survivors are his wife; a brother, Hugo of St. Cloud; and four sisters, Mrs. Viola Schaeffer of Flint, Mich., Mrs. Peter Breit of R. 2 New Holstein, Mrs. Victor Feldner of St. Cloud and Mrs. Glenroy Boll of Chilton.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Church with the Rev. Mark Stangel, celebrant, Mass will be preceded by family rites at 9:30 a.m. at Erve-Evjen Funeral Home at New Holstein.

August Drews was claimed by death on Sunday, Sept. 20th, at his home in Steinthal. He had been ill for about two years with asthma and lung trouble. Mr. Drews was born in New Holstein, Aug. 16, 1872, where he grew to manhood, and learned the blacksmith trade. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Radder on Nov. 5th, 1895, and the couple came to Hinzeville, where Mr. Drews owned a blacksmith shop. Several years later he sold the shop and moved to Steinthal with his family, where he was engaged in the same business. Fifteen years ago he disposed of his shop and went to live on the Rud. Hungsberg farm, where he died. Three children were born to the couple, of whom one son died in infancy. He leaves his widow, one son Hugo and a daughter Leona at home; also two brothers and five sisters. The funeral was held last Wednesday afternoon with services at the Reformed church in Schleswig, Rev. Friedrichsmeier in charge. The remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Albert Catholic Church in Milwaukee for Mrs. Norman Darkow, 69, a former Chilton resident, who died Sunday.

The former Frances Kautzer was born in Chilton Jan. 24, 1907, a daughter of John and Anna Kautzer.

Survivors are three sons, two daughters, and three grandchildren, all of Milwaukee; one brother, Sylvester of New Holstein; five sisters, Mrs. Helen Endries of Chilton, Mrs. Evelyn Brock of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Dorothy Burmeister of Kenosha, Mrs. Rose Schowacy of Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Janet Koehler of Sheboygan.

Stockbridge - One after the other of our old settlers and pioneers of Calumet county pass away and we are called on to chronicle this week the death of Mr. Ephraim Dart, of Stockbridge, who passed away last Sunday afternoon at his home in the village. Two years ago he had a stroke of paralysis and in the mean time was threatened with apoplexy but was kept in fairly good health all the time though he was not able to get about very much. Saturday morning he had another stroke of the dreaded disease and was made unconscious thereby, in which state he passed away very peaceably into the life beyond without apparent pain or suffering. Mr. Dart was born in Genesse county, New York, in 1827 on Sept 19th, where he spent his boyhood days. In 1859 he was married to Miss Lydia Dart, soon after which they came west to Wisconsin and settled near Taycheedah, Fond du Lac county, after which they came to Stockbridge and settled a mile and a half north of the village. His wife preceded him in death five years ago leaving his son Theron and daughter Effie to comfort him in his old age. Last fall they moved to Stockbridge where they have occupied the Dudley place. Deceased was accommodating and hospitable and in late years took and active interest in the religious life, uniting with the Congregational church and e expressing much joy in the hope of the life to come. A large concourse of friends assembled at the church on Tuesday afternoon to pay tribute to the deceased. The choir sang appropriate songs and Mrs. W.W. Christie and Rev. S. G. Ruegg gave brief testimonies to his and life and his character with encouraging words to those that morn his loss. Interment was at the Brant cemetery. Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

Stockbridge - Died at her home in the town of Stockbridge, on Friday, February 2, Mrs. Ephraim Dart, aged 64 years, 6 months and 6 days. Lydia Dart was born in Chautauqua county, New York, July 24th, 1835. At a very age she moved with her parents to Wisconsin and lived in Dodge county for some time. On February 2, 1862, just thirty-eight years before the time of her death, she was married to Ephrim Dart in New York and returned with him to Wisconsin, locating at Taycheedah, Fond du lac county. I 1872 they moved to Calumet county, where she has remained until she was called to leave this land of misery. Their union was blessed with two children Effie and Theron Dart, of this place. Art an early age she joined the Baptist church. Mrs. Dart was a kind and loving wife, mother, and neighbor. For three years she has been a sufferer. On Sunday, January 28th she had a stroke of paralysis and sank gradually until Friday, when she passed away. The funeral took place on Sunday, at 11 o'clock a.m., from the Congregational church and the remains were followed to Brant by a large concourse of friends and relatives.

Stockbridge - The many friends of Mrs. Theron Dart were shocked last Saturday morning to hear of her sudden and alarming illness. While about her usual household duties she was suddenly stricken down and soon relapsed into unconsciousness from which she never awakened. A physician was summoned but the most faithful medical skill was of no avail and Monday morning at seven o'clock she passed away. Mae Marsilliot was born at Stockbridge Feb. 2, 1873. Oct. 5, 1905 she was married to Theron Dart of the same place where they have since resided. Nearly her whole life has been spent in Stockbridge where she was known and beloved by all. The sympathy of the entire community is with the stricken husband in his great sorrow. Besides her husband she leaves her mother, Mrs. F. Marsilliot, two sisters, Mrs.John Wenzel of Antigo and Mrs. Ralph Jouno of Stockbridge and one brother, Merton Marsilliot of Antigo. The funeral was held from the Congregational church Wednesday, Rev. Arke officiating. The love and esteem in which she was held was shown by the crowds of sorrowing friends who came to pay the last tribute of respect to one whose beautiful life will live on, not only in the hearts of those who knew her best, but in its lasting influence for good , for "No life can be pure in its purpose and strong in its strife, and all life not be purer and better thereby."

Enroute on a northern trip with Clark Skidmore of Tulare, Theron Dart, 58, for many years a resident of this district, passed away suddenly Saturday morning at the home of his brother-in-law, M. E. Marsilliot of Menlo Park.

Before the unexpected attack Dart had been apparently in good health. He leaves one sister, Mrs. George Dalton of Torrance, and two cousins - Theron Northrup of Orcutt, and Mrs Sarah Storm of Tulare, with whom he made his home.

Appropriate funeral services were held Tuesday, afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Strom on North Cherry Avenue, Rev. Guy Jones of the Baptist church, officiating. Mrs. C. M. Munger and Mrs. Anna Thompson sang two duets, "Face to Face" and "It is Well With My Soul".

Mrs. G. W. Dalton and Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Storm accompanied the body back to Chilton, Wisconsin, where burial will be made in the family plot in Brant Cemetery, beside the body of the wife of the deceased who passed beyond a number of years ago.

Among those attending the funeral from away from here were Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Storm and Mrs. R.K. LaPrairie of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Allison of Morro Bay, Mrs. Ward Beckwith of Long Beach, Theron Northrup of Orcutt and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Northrup of Hanford.

Adolph Derner, retired farmer who lived in Chilton, passed away at his home at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

He was born on Nov. 13, 1860, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Derner of Jericho, where his childhood and school days were spent. On Sept. 23, 1885, he was married to Alice Whitby of Jericho, who preceded him in death 13 years ago. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church of Chilton.

The survivors are two sons, Hugh of Stockbridge, and Vincent of Brothertown; one brother, William of Chilton, one sister, Mrs. William Whitby of Calumetville; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home at Chilton at 1:30 o'clock on Monday, and at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical and Reformed church. The Rev. Edward Hennig will officiate. Burial will be made in the Union cemetery in Brothertown.

Friends may call at the funeral home; beginning tonight at 7 p.m. until the time of the services.

Jacob Dohr, 74, a long-time resident of Chilton, passed away suddenly at 8:45 a.m. today at his home.

A Chilton real estate dealer, Mr. Dohr had lived for several years on a farm near Hilbert. His wife, the former Miss Rose Bersch, preceded him in death 12 years ago.

Survivors include three sons, Leo and Alvis of Chilton and Anthony of Chicago; four daughters, Mrs. Edward Bloomer and Mrs. Ralph Schaff, of Chilton, Mrs. Leo J. Laughrin of Milwaukee and Mrs. Cico Resider of New Holstein; 27 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John Anheier and Mrs. Mary Meier of Hilbert; and three brothers, Joseph and Peter of Appleton and Anton of Hilbert.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be published in tomorrow�s Sheboygan Press.

Funeral services for Jacob Dohr, 74, a Chilton real estate dealer who died Friday - will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Erbe-Hoffmann Funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary�s church in Chilton.

The Rev. Joseph Bartelme, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem high mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Leo and Alvis of Chilton and Anthony of Chicago; six daughters, Mrs. Edward Bloomer, Mrs. Ralph Schaff and Mrs. Joseph Ortlieb of Chilton, Mrs. Leo J. Laughrin of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Cleo Reiser and Mrs. Bert Buechel of New Holstein; and 27 grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. John Anheier and Mrs. Mary Meier, Hilbert, and three brothers, Joseph and Peter of Appleton and Anton of Hilbert.

His wife, the former Rose Bersch, preceded him in death in 1938.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the time of the services. Members of the parish will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. today and Sunday.

Funeral services for Jacob Dohr, Chilton, were held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Pfeffer Funeral home, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary�s Catholic church. The Rev. Joseph Bartelme officiated and burial was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Math. Lauer, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bauer, of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dohr of Grafton; L. A. Bloomer of Appleton; Francis Rooney of Escanaba, Mich.; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dohr of Mayville.

Otto Dedering, who at one time resided in Kiel, passed away Saturday morning following a two-years' illness. He had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ray Brockman at Plymouth.

The deceased was born in the Town of Schleswig on July 15, 1875, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dedering. After attending the rural schools in Schleswig, he was married to Miss Louise Backhaus Oct. 28, 1897. The couple settled in Kiel, and in 1920 moved to New Holstein. His wife preceded him in death March 4, 1949.

Survivors are two sons, Edgar of New Holstein and Elmer of Valders; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond {Elda} Brockman of Plymouth; three grandchildren, and three brothers, William and Fred or Kiel and Henry of New Holstein.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church in New Holstein, with the Rev. John Seidler officiating. Burial was made in the Rockville Cemetery.

Mrs. Otto Dedering, nee Louisa Backhaus, passed away last Friday at 11:45 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Brockman at Plymouth. She had been ill for some time.

The deceased was born in the town of Rhine April 2, 1864, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Backhaus. She attended the district schools and on Oct. 28, 1897, she was married to Otto Dedering at Kiel. They resided here for five years, at Marathon for 10 years, and at Sauk for 11 years. In 1920 they moved to New Holstein and remained there until 1947 when they went to Plymouth to make their home with their daughter.

Survivors are her husband and the following children: Edgar of New Holstein, Mrs. Ray {Elda} Brockman of Plymouth, Elmer of Valders; three gramdchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Adolph {Minnie} Warnke of Kiel and Mrs. Helen Luedke of Two Rivers.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, with the Rev. John R. Seidler Officiating. Burial was made in the Rockville cemetery.

John Dickrell of Milwaukee died suddenly of heart failure at the home of his son John at Toulon, Ill., Friday morning at 7 a.m. where he had been visiting.

The deceased is well known in this vicinity as he was born and reared in Calumet County. He was born January 18, 1860 at St. Anna and was married to Agnes Possley July 15, 1890, who survives him with the following children: Mrs. A. J. Michels of Elkhart Lake; Theodore J. Dickrell of Junction City, John N. Dickrell of Toulon, Ill., Mrs. Walter F. Dorn, Mrs. Cleo Nelli, and Mrs. Edmund J. Schrang, Jr. of Milwaukee. There are also 15 grandchildren.

The Dickrell family lived on a farm near St. Anna until 15 years ago when they traded their farm on a general merchandise buiness at St. Anna. Seven years ago they sold this business and moved to Milwaukee, where they resided since.

The funeral was held Monday, at 9:30 a.m. from the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. J. Michels at Elkhart Lake, where the remains has laid in state since Saturday afternoon, and at 10 o'clock at the St. Ann church, at St. Anna, with burial in the church cemetery, the Rev. J. H. Schmitt conducting the services.

The pallbearers were Nic. and Victor Jeanty, Jacob Steffes, Eugene Pearl, John Turba, and August Zorn. Those from away who attended the funeral besides the children are: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Possley and son Clarence of Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walsdorf of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. August Walsdorf, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Possley, and Mr. and Mrs. Nic Possley and daughter Lenore of Thorp; John Possley of Wisconsin Rapids; Milton Possley of New Franken; Henry Possley of Erie, Ill.; Mrs. Anna Michels and her son John, Mrs. Mary Henke, Mrs. J. Wismeth of Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hertel and Mrs. Frances Schram of Spring Valley; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hauser, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hauser and family of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Nic. Lecher, Mr. and Mrs. William Lecher, Mr. and Mrs. Mich. Possley, Nic. Possley, Mrs. John Mayer, Nic. Paules and family of Fredonia, besides many relatives and friends from Kiel and vicinity.

Mrs. J. M. Duecker, nee Emilie Griebenow, died at her home on Sixth St., on Monday, April 7, of heart failure. She had been confined to her bed for about three weeks. Deceased was born in Pommerania, Germany, December 11, 1859, and came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred. Griebenow, in 1870. For one year they lived in Milwaukee and then came to Kiel, where she has since lived. In 1877 she was united in marriage to J. M. Duecker. She leaves to mourn, her husband, two children, Mrs. Chr. Roeck of Kiel and Hugo C. Duecker of Algoma, three brothers, four sisters, and eight grandchildren. One son Walter died several years ago. Deceased was a woman who was highly respected in the community and her demise is mourned by a host of friends. Mrs. Duecker was a member of the Reformed church Frauenverein, who will attend the obsequies in a body. The funeral will be held this {Thursday} afternoon at 2 p.m. from the home, Rev. W. Rech officiating.

Death claimed Gustave Duecker, aged 88 a pioneer of this city almost his entire life, while he was asleep early Friday morning at the home of his son, Hubert C. Duecker.

The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Duecker, pioneer Calumet county residents. He was born February 24, 1860 on the Duecker homestead farm in the town of New Holstein.

June 6, 1889, he was married to Anna Griebnow, and then entered the hardware business in partnership with his brother, John M. Duecker here. The brothers operated the store here for many years.

Mr. Duecker was a member of the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church, and was active in civic affairs for many years. He at one time served as president of the village of Kiel.

Survivors are two sons, Warner of Pelham, N. Y., and Hubert C., of this city, and two grandsons, John of Pelham and Daniel of this city. His wife preceded him in death January 23, 1946; one daughter died in infancy, and six brothers also have passed away.

Funeral services were held this Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral home, with Rev. E. L. Worthman - officiating. Burial was made in the Kiel Cemetery.

Mrs. Gustave Duecker, nee Anna Griebenow, passed away this Wednesday morning at her home on Sixth street. Funeral services will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, with the Rev. E. L. Worthman officiating. Burial will be made in the Kiel cemetery.

The deceased, the daughter of the late Frederick and Wilhelmina Reseburg-Griebenow, was born December 31, 1866, in Germany. She came to America with her parents in 1868. A few of her childhood years were spent in Milwaukee, after which the family moved to Kiel, and where she has since resided. One June 5, 1889 she was united in marriage with Gustave Duecker, whom she leaves to mourn her death, with two sons, Werner of Pelham, New York, and Hubert of this city; two grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Arthur L. Kaemmer of this city, and two brothers, Fred Griebenow of California and William of Rhinelander. One child died in infancy, and two brothers and five sisters have preceded her in death.

She was a faithful member of the St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed church, and the church Frauenverein. She also was a charter member of the Kiel Frauenverein.

Around 7 o'clock Wednesday morning, Mrs. Friederike Duecker passed away peacefully from old age. The deceased, nee Lindemann, who was among the pioneers of this region, was born December 20, 1832 in Treptow, Pommerania, Germany, and reached the age of 83 years, 9 months and one day. In the year 1850, she came with her father to America, and went first to Sheboygan, where she met her late husband Peter Duecker. A year later she married him in the town of New Holstein, and they settled in the primitive forest, where in the course of the years, through painstaking work, they developed a beautiful farm. The couple had eight sons and one daughter, of whom four sons are still alive, namely: John, Gustave, and William in Kiel and George in California. In the year 1882, the couple moved to Kiel, where Mr. Duecker died in February 1905. After that she lived with her son, William, in his home on Sixth Street, where her eyes, blind for several years, closed forever. Besides the four living sons, she is survived by an elderly brother, Mr. August Lindemann and eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will start from the home of mourning Saturday at 2 p.m. Pastor W. Rech will lead the funeral procession.

Wednesday morning at 6:30 AM in her home here {Kiel} Mrs. Friederike Duecker died of natural causes due to old age. The deceased was born a Lindemann, one of the pioneer families of this area on December 26, 1832 in Treplow, Pommern, Germany and reached the age of 83 years, 9 months and one day. In the year 1850 she came to America with her father and first settled in Sheboygan where she met her husband Peter Duecker who preceded her in death. A year later they were married and came to the Town of New Holstein and settled in the virgin forest, from which with a lot of hard work, they established a lovely farm which is now owned by Mr. H. J. Duecker. The marriage was blessed with eight sons and one daughter of whom four sons are still living: John, Gustav and William Kiel, and George in California. In 1882 the couple moved to Kiel, where Mr. Duecker died in February of 1905. Since then she has lived with her son William on 6th Street where she closed her nearly blind eyes for the last time. Besides the above mentioned sons she leaves behind one brother August Lindemann from here, also eight grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren. The burial will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the house of mourning to the cemetery in New Holstein to rest next to her husband with Pastor Rech {St. Peter UCC} officiating.

David R. Dill, 39, of N743 County Road J, New Holstein, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1962, in Fond du Lac, a son of Robert and Bernice Hoerth Dill. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1981, and continued his education at Moraine Park Technical College where he received a degree in machine repair.

On Jan. 31, 1981, he married Kathy Rabe. David was employed at Kohler Company for the past 14 years. He owned and operated Straight Flush Game Farm in the Town of New Holstein, and New Holstein Insulation & Roofing. He previously worked at Richardson Furniture in Sheboygan Falls and was a bartender at the KC Hall in Sheboygan. David was a member of National Elk Breeders Association, National Rifle Association and United Auto Workers Local 833. He enjoyed hunting, raising elk, pheasant and black labs, snowmobiling, jet-skiing, four- wheeling and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; three children; two brothers; one sister; his parents; his mother-in-law {names omitted for privacy}; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, George H. Rabe; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home in Kiel, with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs officiating.

Visitation: From 3 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his name.

Mrs. Joseph {Johanna} Dresang, 70, a resident of Calumet County Homestead at New Holstein, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton after a lingering illness.

A native of Black Creek, she was born on Feb. 21, 1891, a daughter of Albert and Malhalida Haiven Steffens, and was married on June 5, 1923.

The couple farmed at Freedom until 1950, farmed north of Brillion until 1954, then moved to Brillion, and had lived at the Homestead for the past year.

Mrs. Dresang was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brillion and the Christian Mothers Society.

Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Nick {Edna} Binsfeld of rural Brillion; a son, Francis of Brillion; 10 grandchildren and four brothers, Henry, Lawrence and Leo of Appleton, Paul of rural Seymour. One son, a daughter, and two brothers preceded her in death.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Brillion by the Rev. Raymond Schauer, pastor. Burial will be in St. Edward's Machville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion after 2 p.m. Friday. The rosary will be prayed at the church at 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home at 8 p.m.

Chilton, Wis. - {Special} - Mrs. Catherine Diedrich, aged 80, passed away at noon Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Deceased was born Nov. 16, 1861, at St. Anna, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry La Crois. In November, 1882, she was united in marriage to Peter La Croix at St. Anna. The couple lived on a farm near that village for a time and later moved to Chilton, where she has since resided. Her husband passed away in September, 1910, and in February, 1916, she was married to William Diedrich of Chilton, who preceded her in death April 27, 1938. She was a member of the Christian Mothers' society of St. Mary's church in this city, which organization will attend the services in a body.

Survivors are two sons, Emil and Joseph La Croix, of Milwaukee; three daughters, Mrs. Louis {Minnie} Koehler, and Mrs. Leonard {Olive} Schaefer of Chilton, and Mrs. Michael {Bertha} Schmidt of Stockbridge; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Stemper and Mrs. John Turba of St. Anna. One son, Adolph, died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Pfeffer Funeral home and at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church in this city with interment in St. Mary's cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Esdepsky will officiate.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home until the time of services.

Elmer G. Diedrich, 57, of R. 2, Hilbert, died Tuesday of an apparent heart attack while riding in his son Donald's car. He reportedly had been shoveling snow a short time prior to being stricken.

Born April 1, 1909 in the Town of Woodville, he was a son of the late Nicholas and Catherine Diedrich.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one son, Donald of R. 1, Menasha; six daughters, Mrs. James {Patricia} Engel of R. 1, Chilton, Mrs. Robert {Nancy} Wilson and Mrs. Kay {Shirley} Hosteptler, both of Stockbridge, Mrs. Gary {Janet} Steinmetz of R. 4, Appleton, and Carol and Mary Beth, both at home; 17 grandchildren; and two brothers, Edward and Mathew, and a sister, Mrs. Ervin Gruber, all at Hilbert.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stockbridge, the Rev. William Willinger, pastor, will be the celebrant of the requiem Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Stockbridge, after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Florence Draheim, 60, of 235 S. Main St., Brillion, widow of John C., died Wednesday at University Hospitals, Madison, following a lingering illness.

The former Florence Radloff, she was born June 25, 1913, at Brillion, a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Koch Radloff.

On Jan. 25, 1936, she married Mr. Draheim at Collins. They farmed on R. 4, Chilton, for several years and then moved to Brillion. Mr. Draheim died in December, 1970.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brillion, its Ladies Aid Society, and the Brillion Women's Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. George {Mary} Struebing, Brillion; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lewis Pfeffer, Brillion, and a brother, Victor Radloff, Carmel, Ind.

A brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Church, Brillion, the Rev. Arden Stiebes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, from 3 p.m. Friday until 10:30 a.m. Saturday and at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Louis Donath, aged 87, passed away at his home near here on Highway 32, suddenly on Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mr. Donath was very well known in this vicinity, as years ago he used to do garden spading all over the city.

The deceased was born in Germany September 16, 1852, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Donath. Mr. Donath came to the state of Wisconsin with his parents in 1861, locating on a farm on Highway 32, now owned by the Carl Lambert family. Forty-two years ago the Donath family located on the present homestead near here, and where his parents died many years ago. Mr. Donath was the only child, and resided in that home the remainder of his life.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, at the Meselwitz Funeral Home, interment was made in the local cemetery.

The Rev. E. L. Worthman officiated, and pallbearers were: Anton Beumler, Rudolph Donath, John Miklich, Oscar Kazmeier, Walther Klemme and Edward Krostag.
