This Sutherland family emigrated to Canada before 1839, settling in Nova Scotia. Some descendants moved to Portland, Maine, then on to Massachusetts. The LeBlanc side of this lineage can be traced back to the earliest immigrants, but the Sutherlands are a bit mysterious and more challenging to uncover.
