Hill Hall Farm aka Sludders Farm

Hill Hall Farm is where the first known ‘round’ (octagonal) house was built in 1618, of plastered timber framing with central brick chimney and thatched roof. This Dutch cottage is thought to have belonged to the Dutch Canvey land-owner Julius Sludder a landowner at that time. He built the Dutch cottage next to his Hill Hall farm to house his workers.
