There are two Mott families associated with Canvey Island.

William Mott from Danbury’s family came to Canvey and married a local girl Eleanor around 1840. His brother Thomas also came to Canvey and married Susannah ?. After Thomas’ death Susannah married George GEPP. In one census he was stated as being born in Woodham but the others all state Danbury. I have not yet traced him prior to 1840.

The other Mott family belongs to Martha Mott b 1828 in Woodham Ferris. I first find Marthain 1841 in the Chelmsford Union Workhouse where she was a Hospital Assistant. Later census show her in Woodham Ferrers with her children. Stated as unmarried and b in Woodham Ferrers. She turns up in Canvey Island in the 1891 census with some of her family and here she dies in 1895 and is buried there.

Are these two families related? If anyone can help please email me.
