Sluice Farm This drawing of Sluice Farm, dated 1928, has been donated to the Dutch Cottage Museum by Jill Goodchild along with another painting showing a Canvey bus and the Dutch Cottage in the distance. The following is from the narrative at the museum:- William Henry Caffyn (1870 - 1958) trained as a lithographer and worked in London as an illustrator of posters magazines and books. In the early 1900s he designed advertising posters for Bovril which became well known. A copy of one is in the Victoria and Albert Museum. During World War 1 he drew recruiting posters among other things. Copies are in the Imperial War Museum. He also specialised in drawing portraits of contemporary political and literary figures for publication in periodicals.
