Robert Allen, a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church in Larne, Ireland, lived in the Parish of Ballycragy in the county of Antrim near the city of Larne. He was born in 1676, died in 1770 in the 94 th year of his life, a farmer by occupation. Married Janet Hair who lived to be 75 years old. By her he had 23 children, 18 of whom arrived to years of maturity. Two of whom came to America before they were fully grown, named David and William.

William Allen, son of Robert and Janet Hair Allen, and one of the two sons who came to America in about 1726, was born in 1711 at his father’s, was 15 years old when he crossed the ocean first, settled in New Jersey where he married three times. His first wife named Kizer.* By her he had one or more children. She died. His 2 nd wife was Jane Warford, by her he had 8 children: five sons and three daughters. His third wife was widow Buchman** with six children. Her maiden name was Sarah Cox. By her he had three children. When his youngest child was 5 or 6 years old, about the year 1762, he moved from New Jersey with all his family and several connections to Loudon Co., Virginia and died in Va. 10 miles north of Leesburg and was buried at the Gum Spring in 1799 or 1800.

James Allen, the youngest child of William Allen by his third wife, was born in 1769 in NJ. He married Elizabeth Lee of Prince William Co., Virginia on Jan 24, 1793. And died on the same farm owned by his father William in 1845 and was buried at Red Hill.

Samuel C. Allen, the 10 th child of James Allen, was born Oct. 3, 1810 in Loudon Co., VA and moved to Illinois in 1832. Married the widow of Minor Reid. Her maiden name was Jane E. Gore, daughter of Enos Gore of Adams Co., Ohio, but formerly of Loudon Co., VA, on Dec. 16, 1858.

William L. Allen, son of Samuel, was born in Illinois near Decatur, Oct. 21, 1861. Married Mary Saunders on June 6. 1883 and died Jan, 20, 1916.

Guy F. Allen, son of William, was born Nov. 6, 1886. Married Anna Bigelow Dec. 9, 1909.

*Discovered through research that this first wife was actually Alice Berry.
**Actual married name was Beekman, widow of Christopher Beekman, and they had 7 children.
