Bruce Howard Maedke
Bruce Howard Maedke, 47, of Asheville, made his transition on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, as a result of an auto accident near Clayton, Ga. Bruce was the son of Marie Maedke of Swannanoa and Andreas Etzel of Virginia Beach, Va. He was a licensed massage therapist and co-owner of Phoenix Massage in Asheville.
Bruce is survived by his life-partner, Pam Hauser and their children, Adam, Rinnie and Doug. Bruce leaves his sister, Lisa Etzel and her husband, Michael Budnick; niece, Leanne; brother, Todd Etzel and his wife, Kathy; nephews, James and Jason; great-nephew, Matthew; aunt, Ruth and uncle, Clayton Williquette, uncle John Maedke and cousins, Scott and Christine. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Howard and Dorothy Maedke.
Bruce had great passion for life. He followed a vegetarian lifestyle for over 14 years. His greatest interests included Harley Davidson motorcycles, computers, stained glass design, micro-brewing, tattoo art, mountain music and the love of his family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of Bruce's life at 5 p.m. Friday at the Center for Creative Living, Two Science of Mind Way, Asheville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bruce's name to any nonprofit organization that is working to preserve our precious environment.

Maedke, Bruce Howard
Bruce Howard Maedke, 47, of Swannanoa, NC, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004 as a result of an auto accident near Clayton, GA, when an oncoming driver crossed over the highway line and hit Bruce head on. Bruce, father of Adam Maedke-Flory of Alpharetta, GA, was on his way home in the evening after driving south to GA to see his son's fourth grade school band concert and to take his son Christmas shopping. Prior to moving to NC, Bruce was a resident of both Pittsburg and Lafayette, CA and worked for many years as a computer consultant for the City of Oakland and Decision Technologies of Fremont, CA. The last year of Bruce's life he worked as a massage therapist in Asheville, NC.
