| Enclosed you will find all of the information that you asked for. This is all that I have and I hope that it be what is needed. |
| The Myers Family is a very old family in the U.S. and many of your ancestors fought in the Revolution of 1776. |
| As far as I was able to find out Jacob Myers was with George Washington Army that was destroyed at Fort Necessity between Cumberland Maryland and Uniontown, Pa. in 1755. There is no record of him being killed or discharged so I suppose he deserted and settled in the region. |
| In 1772 Springhill Township, Fayette, Pa. where our ancestors were there were living at the that time Henry Myers, George Myers, and Ulrick\h Myers. Anyone of these or all could be your ancestor. |
| The Henry Myers that I have record of lived in Preston Co., Va. now W.Va. on the Pa.-W.Va. line near Bruceton Mills where he was born and where I have never been able to find out neither have I found out where he was buried or died. He was twice married and the second marriage was the result of our ancestors. In the first sheet showing Henry Myers and wife Nancy, I have shown the children of the second marriage. The first wife was named ???? Daniels. I have no first name but to this union were several children possible as many as 12 or 14. Several of these children went west prior to and during the gold rush to the west. |

| I found a James Myers age 20 Listed in the 1850
census
working as a Coffin labor living with a family. It shows that he was born in PA.
I could not make out the name of the family he was living with.
Also listed under his name on the census is another labor name FREDERICK
MYERS age 15. He was also born in
PA and I believe this is James brother.

| I am not sure if this is our James J. Myers but the story goes like this: "History of Tucker County" 1962 by Fransler On November 7, 1862 Imboden with 310 mounted Partisan Rangers, set out from his camp on the South Fork of the South of the South Branch, on his second raid through Randolph and Tucker County. It was the purpose to destroy the railway bridge at Rowlesburg. There was a parley over JAMES MYERS who fired on the truce flag carrier and wounded him in the foot. Imboden wanted to hold him for trial for firing on a flag of truce in violation of the established rules of warfare. Hall contended that Imboden was deploying his troops during the truce, also a violation of the rules and that the offenses therefore nullified each other. This solution was finally agreed upon and the matter dropped. Hall surrendered 29 men and himself, the remainder of his Company being in Rowlesburg. He claimed he had no ammunition but when his men were disarmed forty rounds were taken from each men. When breakfast was finished Hall and his men left their comfortable quarters in the court house and started for Rowlesburg. 1880 Census/ West Virgina Vol. 2 Compiled by William A. Marsh:

| Elias W. Myers, one of the most popular barbers in Tunnelton, and for a long time check-weighman for the miners at the southside mines, is a young man of great energy and accurate business methods. He was born in Barbour county, August 17, 1877, and is the eldest son of Daniel H. and Nancy (Kisner) Myers. His education was obtained in the public schools, after which he took a course in book-keeping. In the spring of 1898 he came to Tunnelton as a coal miner, and two years later entered the employ of the Gorman Coal Co., at West End. He was soon selected by the miners to represent them as check-weighman. Two months later a lockout occurred, and he returned to the Tunnelton mines. On June 25, 1901, he was elected by Local Union, No. 237, U.M.W.A. to represent the miners as check-weighman at the mines of Merchants Coal Co., and served as such until May, 1902. In the summer following he attended a barber's school in New York, where he learned the tonsorial art, and in the fall of 1902 opened his present shaving and hair-cutting establishment. While serving as check-weighman he introduced an improved form of weigh-sheet, and semi-monthly report sheets, which were approved by the company. He is a republican, and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. |

Helen Myers said that she had heard that Effa's death may have been caused from a member of the family.
I talked to Bessie Bolyard on 2 different occasions and both times she said from what she could remember:
Effa was only 18 and unmarried when she got pregnant. Her mother and father wanted to teach her a lesson from it and
kept her locked in her room. Back then babies were born at home, and when she went into labor she screamed for help.
She wanted her parents to get the neighbors to help and her parents ignored her. When they finally got help it was to late.

In the summer of 1985, I, Benjamin's granddaughter Cathy Myers Simmons went to visit Benjamin at the VA Hospital. I recorded a conversation with him for my genealogy research for the Myers family. Here is the information I got from his words on the recording:
He was 92 years old and did the best at remembering things. His doctor at this time was Dr. Lucton.
He said he was drafted into the army when he was 19 years old and he became a boxer. I asked him what his greatest memory was and he said "boxing and winning against Jack Dempsey while he was in the Army". He said "I was 19 years old and I knocked him out and left him laying in the ring". He said he quit boxing when he was 24 years old.
He said he was a minister from 1946-1950 with the Salvation Army. He was a Sergeant Major Assistant corps officer and followed the Officers Gilberts from Grafton to Alexandria, Virginia.
He told me he was born in Morgantown, W.Va. but didn't know where his father was born. He said his dad had lots of brothers and sisters and their names were: Daniel, Elmer, Osie, Myrtle, and Billy. He said their were more but he couldn't think of them all. He mentioned something about a boy name Harrison who was his Uncle Billy's boy. Billy may have also had a son name Willy. | We have all been told over the years that Roxie was pregnant with David when she married Benjamin and he raised him as his own son and it was if he was always part of the family. Some of you have always wondered who his biological father was. Some time while
I, Cathy Simmons was talking to him he told her that David's father was a Earl
Field and I believe he said David Earl Field. Their is little know of who Earl Fields is or even if their is any truth to this name. July 21st, 2001- A couple weeks ago I made a trip to Preston Co., WV. I obtained a copy of Benjamin and Roxies marriage license dated March 11, 1919. David would have been 2 years old at the time of their marriage. I also found a David Earl Fields b. 1888 which makes me wonder if this could be his true father. I searched for birth records under the name of Everson and Fields and couldn't find his birth recorded anywhere. My father later told me he remember that his father had once said he adopted David which means his birth records were probably sealed. We went to the adoption counter to ask about obtaining adoption information and I was told that I would have to talk to the Judge and he wouldn't be in for a few weeks and I could write to him. I am in the process of obtaining a copy of his death certificate to send along with a letter to the Judge. When I do I will post this information for everyone to see. David was 2 yrs old at the time his mother married Benjamin Myers. Ben later adopted David. I am currently seeking information to find proof for his family on his biological father. |
