Jacob Kopp was born in Freidendal, South Russia , on Oct. 6, 1886.  He came to America at the age of 21 and began to work in the Pleasant Valley district.  For two years, from 1908 until 1909, he was employed at the John Pepple Sr. farm.  Then he rented a farm of his own which he bought later from his savings.  He married in March 1913, to Caroline Lang of Pleasant Valley.  Seven children were born to them, six of whom, Adolph, Ruth, Recke [Rika], Magdalena , David and Helen are still living.  Adolph, the oldest, is ten, while the baby, David, is about a year old.  Six sisters of Mr. Kopp survive him, three of them still living in Russia .

The funeral was held at the Pleasant Valley Baptist church on Monday afternoon.  Interment was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kopp was well known and well liked in the district in which he lived.  He was an energetic, untiring worker who was succeeding I “making good” on his farm in spite of unfavorable conditions.  He leaves many friends and acquaintances who sincerely regret his loss.
