Roscoe- Services for Mrs. Rosina
Spitzer Hieb, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran
Church here. She died Monday, Jan. 4, at Dakota Midland Hospital
in Aberdeen.
The Rev. Gerhard Geiger will
officiate and burial will be in the Morningside Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the
deMalignon-Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle until 10 a.m. Wednesday and at
the church from 11 a.m. Wednesday to time of service. The casket will
not be opened after the service.
Mrs. Hieb was born Feb. 6, 1895,
in South Russia and came to the Eureka area as a child. She
married John Spitzer Oct. 22, 1916, at Eureka and the couple lived
northeast of Roscoe until 1920 when they moved into Roscoe where Mr.
Spitzer operated and owned an implement company. He died July 14,
1961. She married Fred Hieb at Roscoe Feb 3, 1966. He died March
18, 1967.
Survivors include one son, Erwin
Spitzer, Roscoe; three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Ann) Prisbe, and Mrs. Ervin
(Adeline) Bader, both of Roscoe; and Mrs. George (Alma) Keisner,
Harlingen, Texas; two stepsons, Herbert and Erwin Hieb, both of Roscoe;
one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lawrence (LaVerne) Hettich, Java; nine
grandchildren; one brother, Theodore Kapp, Ludden, N.D.; and one sister,
Mrs. Freida Arndt, Roscoe.
In addition to her husbands, she
was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services
were held Tuesday, September 27 at the First Presbyterian Church in
Roscoe at 2:00 p.m. for Mrs. Matt (Katherine) Forkel of Roscoe [SD]. She
passed away at the Ipswich Community Hospital on Friday, September 23 at
the age of 81 years, 10 months and 25 days. She had been in ill health
for the past year.
The Rev. Donald
Stoebner, pastor of the Congregational Church of Ipswich and the Powell
Presbyterian Church officiated. Organist was Mrs. Robert Scherr of
Roscoe. "Nearer my God to Thee" was sung by a trio, Mrs. Kap
Scherr, Patty and Bob Kiesz. The Forkel family sang a German hymn.
Interment was
made in Morningside Cemetery at Roscoe. Arrangements were in charge of
the Hein Funeral Home of Ipswich. Pallbearers were Jim Kolb, Lester
Forkel, Marvin Lout, Robert Kiesz, Marvin Rohrbach and Raymond Forkel.
Mrs. Forkel, nee
Katherine Kapp, was born on October 28, 1884, at Gleicksthal
[Glueckstal], Russia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kapp. She
received her education in schools in Russia. She married to Christ V.
Voegele on January 22, 1908 at Glicksthal [Glueckstal],. In 1909 they
came to the Untied States and settled in Edmunds County. They farmed
near Hosmer for eight and then moved to a farm five miles northwest of
Roscoe. In 1941 she retired to Roscoe to spend the remainder of her
life.
Mr. Voegele
passed away on September 27, 1962. On September 5, 1965 she was
remarried to Matt Forkel, Sr. Mrs. Forkel was a member of the
Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Aid. She was regular with the church
attendance while able to attend.
Surviving are:
her widower, Matt Forkel, Sr.; two sons, Herman Voegele, Sacramento,
Calif.; Leonard Voegele, Aberdeen; nine daughters, Mrs. Charlie
(Katherine) Keim, Ashley, N. Dak.; Mrs. Herbert (Christine) Sullivan,
Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Aman, Ione, Wash.; Mrs. Art (Pauline)
Kolb, Java; Mrs. Don (Alvina) Frederickson, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Willie
(Esther) Williams, Beale Air Force Base, Calif.; Mrs. Reinhold (Matilda)
Kiesz, Hosmer; Mrs. Cecil (Adelia) Danielson. Toole, Utah; and Mrs.
Howard (Ann) Goehring, Deadwood, S. Dak.; 35 grandchildren and 40
great-grandchildren.
Her first
husband, Christ V. Voegele; three daughters and one great grandchild
preceded her in death. [also two grandchildren] |
