Louis Falk of
Courtenay Was Killed Saturday
Investigation Exonerates Driver of Car Which Ran Into His
Louis Falk, 24-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Falk, whose farm home is near Courtenay was
instantly killed Saturday night about 9:30 o'clock when the car he was
working on was struck by on driven by Morris Dunwoody of near Edmunds.
Mr. Falk, his brother, Tony,
Arnold Schroeder and his sister, Emily and Lottie Schroeder, were going
to a dance at Kensal. One of the tires was punctured and the young
men parked the car on the right side of the highway, one half mile south
of the Flax Tow Mill which is one half mile west of Kensal.
Mr. Dunwoody of Edmunds, who
works for Al Jackson on the grading outfit , was driving a Chevrolet
coupe north also to the dance. A car was coming from the south, the
opposite direction, and the lights blinded Mr. Dunwoody. He kept
to the right side of the road and since the car driven by Mr. Falk had
no lights on it he did npt see it until he hit it. The car with
the bright lights of course passed him and the driver did not know that
a catastrophe had taken place.
Mr. Falk's chest was crushed and
his neck broken. The young ladies were in the car when it was
struck and were brushed and badly shaken up.
H. A. Brastrup, Stutsman county
coroner, and H.F. Rittgers, assistant states attorney, went to the scene
of the accident and after a thorough investigation declared that the
death was due to accident and that there was no criminal
negligence. no inquest will be held. The body was taken to
Kensal. |
