* Robert Franklin Heflin, who passed away on Sunday night, had been of ill health for some time. Funeral services were held on the lawn of the home, which was beautifully decorated with the national colors. Rev. Baumann, of the Congregational church of this place and Rev. Doty, of Oakes, officiated at the last sad rites of our friend and brother.
The pallbearers were Messrs. Geo. Elhard, H.H. France, Geo. Duetcher, T.P. Conery, E.M/ Reule and Mike Dertheim.
Robert Franklin Heflin was born in Taylorsville, Ind. on Jan. 2, 1848, and died at Gackle, N.D. on July 14, 1918, at the age of seventy years.
While still very young, he moved with his parents to Wisconsin. When but a boy he enlisted in and served through the Civil War. In 1877 he was married to Lucilia Murray. In 1884, with his young wife, he moved to Brown County South Dakota, where they lived until about 12 years ago when they came to North Dakota, where they lived until the time of his death. Two children, Mrs. Elmer Heffelfinger and Jess Heflin, were born to them, together with the wife and mother survive the departed.
