* Mathew Maguson returned home last week with his bride and is now
living on his farm Northeast of town.
29 FEB 1909 - "RODEL – GUMKE"
* A very pretty church
wedding occurred at the German Luthern Church South of here Sunday February
21st 1909 at 12:30 p. m. The contracting parties were Miss Sarra Gumke and
Gottfried Roedel and the wedding was performed by Rev. Hanselman of that
place.
The house was filled
with friends and relatives of the young couple both from the country and
city.
The bride was dressed
in white silk with Orange blossoms and ribbon trimmings and the groom in
conventional black.
At the conclusion of
the ceremony the bridal party and invited guest went to the home of the
brides parents where a reception and banquet was given.
The presents received
by the newly married couple were numerous and handsome as well as valuable.
The bride is a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gumke and spent most of her days in our vicinity.
The groom is from one
of our best families and is considered one of the coming young farmers of
the county, who will make his works a worthy son of a worthy family.
The congratulations on
the happy event are numerous and the Republican is greatly pleased on this
occasion to add its hearty good wishes to those being so freely extended.

* At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Micheal Gumke on March 4th at high noon
occured the marriage of John Gumke to Miss Carolina Knodel. The bride is a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Knodel of Streeter. The groom is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Micheal Gumke. The wedding was performed by Rev. Henzleman. The bride
was dressed in blue silk and the groom in attire black, after the marriage
ceremony a reception was given at the grooms parents. The Republican joins
in wishing them its warmest congratulation.

- "WEDDING"
* A very happy event took place at the home of the brides parents
four miles south of this city at 6 o'clock p. m. Tuesday March 23 1909,
when Miss Kate Moos daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moos was united in marriage to
Mr. John Reinhardt of Jud. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Wacker of
this city, in the presence of a large company of the friends and relatives
of the contracting parties.

Klundt, Phillip Moos and Lizzie Moos, best men and Bridesmaids.
The scene was a
touching one when Rev. Wacker spoke words that made the happy couple man
and wife.
The bride was
handsomely gowned in blue silk crepe de chine. The groom wore the
conventional black.
After the ceremony the
newly married couple were given the hardiest congratulations of all
present, and immediately after the bride and groom, followed by the guests,
sat down to a dainty wedding supper in the dinning room.
The evening was spent
in music which was furnished by the Gackle Brass Band.
The bride is well known
in the locality where she grew to young womanhood, and in this city where
she has been employed a large share of the time during the past few years,
she numbers among her friends all those with whom she is acquainted.
The groom is a
prominent and prosperous young man of the community in which he lives and
is spoken of very highly by those who enjoy his acquaintances.
The Republican and many

for a long and happy married life.

Prisoner Finds Himself in a Peculiar Position
Young Wife Working for his Release

Conrad Bier, the young Russian from Medina, who was recently bound over to the district court on a serious statutory charge preferred by John Gums of that place who discovered that his young daughter was in a delicate condition, and who was released from the custody of the sheriff under bonds of $1,500, has again been returned to jail by his surities who demand that their liability there under be determined. Immediately after his release Bier obtained the consent of the girl's parents and they were married a week or so ago at Moorhead Minn.
At this time Bier finds himself in a peculiar position. He is under indictment on a serious charge and his wife who was the cause of his predicament and the complaining witness against him is now making every effort to effect his release. States Attorney Thorp is not authorized under the statute to quash the information against the man and the matter will have to be regulary prevented to the district Judge. Tuesday March 30th occurred the marriage of Fredrich Gunsch to Mrs.
Christina Graff, Rev. Nagel of the German Lutheran church pronounced the

that Miss Alita Tcheremerchujuk was united in marriage to Carl Durr Tuesday
April 13 at the home of the brides parents the happy young couple will make
their future home south west of here where the groom has a farm. The
Republican joins their many friends in wishing them a happy married life.
30 APR 1909 - MONT PLEASANT
* Jacob Nichols and Mona Shrill were married in Jamestown Sunday
April 19th. They are both popular young people and highly respected and we
extend congratulations.
A crowd of our boys from Mont Pleasant roused the neighbors for miles around with horse fiddles and cow bells and meted out their welcome to the young bridal couple but for some reason, the writer hasn't heard the particulars, the boys did not get as much satisfaction out of their visit as they expected.

4 JUN 1909 - "FALKENSTERN-BROSZ"
* At two o'clock Sunday afternoon May 30th occurred the marriage of Miss
Marrie Brosz daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brosz south of town to Mr.
Emanuel Falkenstern of this city at the German Congergational church, Rev.
Wacker officiation. Miss Christina Brosz and Miss Kate Flaig were brides
maid, and Emanuel Flaig and Friedrich Brosz acted as best men. The bride
being dressed in a pretty white silk and the groom in conventional black.
After the marriage ceremony, the bridal couple accompanied by the brides
maids, best men, relatives and friends were met at the church door by the
Gackle Brass Band which played the wedding march. After which the Gackle
Brass Band, close relatives and friends accompanied the bridal procession
to the home of the brides parents, where a grand wedding supper was served
to about a hundred wedding guest. The groom is one of the respected young
men of this City and needs no introduction. The charming young lady that he
has won as his bride has spent most of her days in this vicinity. The
Republican Joins their many friends in wishing this couple a long life of
happiness and prosperity.

MONT PLEASANT
* Jesse Heflen and Julia Borg both of Cleveland were married in
Jamestown Thursday. They are well and favorably known in this vicinity and
their many friend wish them a long and happy life.
12 NOV 1909 - "FODE-KOENIG NUPTIALS"
* A very
pretty, but quiet wedding, was solemnized in Gackle Last Wednesday evening
at 5 o'clock p. m. at the German Congergational Church.
Rev. Wacker pronounced
Emanuel Koenig and Miss Tillie Fode man and wife. Miss Mary Fode and Miss
Anna Schimel acted as brides mades, Ed Kroll and Oscar Fode were best men.
The bride was dressed
in blue changeabie silk and the groom in conventional black.
At the conclusion of
the ceremony the bridal party and the invited guest went to the home of the
brides parents, were they were met by the Gackle Brass Band playing the
wedding march after which a reception and banquet was given.
The presents received
by the newly married couple were numerous and handsome.
The bride is a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John Fode and has spent most of her days in our vicinity.
The groom is a clerk in the Hammerstrom & Alin General Merchandise
store and needs no introduction.
The congratulations on

VISIT -John Brosz South of town attended the wedding of his son at Kulm
Monday.

* A very pretty home wedding was solemnized last Monday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Harmann near Kulm when their daughter Mathilda, was united
in holy wedlock to John Brosz, Jr. of this place. The ceremony took place
at the home of the brides parents were Rev. Vogel pronounced the man and
wife in the presence of a large gathering of relatives and friends. At six
o'clock supper was served after which the young folds spent the evening in
playing games and other amusements. The Republican joins their host of
friends in wishing them a long and happy wedded life.

* A quiet
wedding was solemnized South East of Berlin Monday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Klein when their daughter Martha was united in marriage to Mr. John
Moos south of this place. The bride is a stranger among us. The groom is a
prominent and prosperous young farmer of this community and needs no
