Hummell, bride of a few days, came up from Alfred Saturday to join Mr.
Hummell in arranging a nest in the cottage formerly occupied by Ray
Morrison and family.
16 MAR 1917 - Wolf-Hemmrich
* On Tuesday,
the 6th of March, occurred the marriage of Miss Katie Hemmrich to Christ
Wolff at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Hemmrich
living west of Streeter. There were a number of guest from Streeter and
vicinity present, who report a splendid time. A minister from Kulm

23 MAR 1917 - Shetler-Speidel
* On Thursday
morning, March 22nd, at 10 o'clock occurred the marriage of Miss Maggie
Speidel to Jacob Schtler at the bride's home. Rev. R. Noggle of the German
Lutheran church officiating.
The bride is a charming young lady, who has grown to womanhood in this community, and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Speidel, living 13 miles southeast of Gackle.
The groom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schetler, residing 13 miles south of here, is one of our most progressive farmers.
The Republican joins with their many friends in extending hearty congratulations.

has it that Miss Amelia Goehring and Gottfried Staub, of near Gackle, are
soon to be married, announcement to that effect having been made to their
closest friends.

Kraft and Mr. Ed. Reflnues were united in the holy bonds of wedlock last
Saturday at Streeter, where both are residents. The young couple have many
friends here who extend congratulations.
30 MAR 1917 - Zenker-Shaefer
* On Tuesday
morning, March 27, at 10 o'clock, occurred the marriage of Miss Rosie
Zenker to Mr. John Schaeffer, Rev. Nagel of Streeter, officiating, the
wedding ceremonies being performed in the Neudorf church.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zenker, residing two miles west of Gackle.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Schaeffer, living eight miles southwest of town.
They will immediately go to housekeeping on his farm, four miles west of the Bell ranch.
May they always find smooth sailing in their voyage over the matrimonial sea.
18 MAY 1917 - Schlenker-Siekkinen
* The many friends and acquaintances
here of Miss Olga Schlenker were overcome with surprise this week when they
learned of her marriage to Mr. Chas. A. Siekinnen, of Dultuth, Minn.
The marriage ceremony took place a Moorhead, Minn., on Friday afternoon, May 11th, before the altar of the probate judge and two of his stenographers, who acted as attendants. The ceremony was a very quiet affair and following its conclusion the newly twined pair sought the plush cushions of a passenger headed for Minneapolis, where they remained for several days enjoying the comforts that replace single blessedness.
The happy couple returned to this city Monday evening and enjoyed the congratulations of their many acquaintances. They will make their home in Gackle. Mr. Siekinnen associating himself in the agricultural business with members of the Schlenker family.
Mr. Siekinnen for the past three years has attended the University of Minnesota and it was during the past winter when Miss Schlenker was receiving vocal training at Minneapolis that they met with the acquaintance with one another ending in the happy culmination of May 11th.
Miss Olga Schlenker, daughter of Mrs. Katy Schlenker, proprietor of the City Hotel, has been reared to womanhood in this vicinity, where she is well and favorably known by all.
May their journey over the path of life lead to fortune, happiness and constant contentment.
25 MAY 1917 - Wedding Bells
* Miss Katie Rott, daughter of Banker and Mrs. Fred Rott, of Gackle,
was united in marriage on Monday, May 21, at Lehr, N.D., to Rev. August
Auch of Streeter, the marriage ceremony being performed by the Baptist
minister, Rev. Fuxa. They were attended by John Schneider of Rochester,
N.Y., and Miss Maggie Rott, a sister of the bride, and by members of the
immediate families of the contracting parties. Both the young people are
well and favorably known here and in the vicinity, the bride being an
accomplished and talented young lady, and the groom being the Baptist
minister at Streeter. They will make their home at Streeter and will have
the best wishes of a host of Gackle people, who extend hearty
congratulations.
28 SEP 1917
* Last Saturday
afternoon at Napoleon, Judge Silbernagel performed the ceremony which made
Able Hildunen and Mary Koski both living near Gackle man and wife. The
couple will make their home on the Hildunen farm southwest of this city.
The best wishes of all their local friends is hereby expressed.
2 NOV 1917 - MARRIED
AT JAMESTOWN; TO LIVE HERE.
* ALFRED, OCT 31 - A. Martilla of this place and Miss Agnes Lauritson
of Valley City were married at the home of the bride Monday, October 29th,
arriving here Tuesday morning. Good news travels fast so many of their
friends were at the depot with a shower of rice.
They were the guests of Mrs. Frank Boldt for supper and the evening. Their
friends in and around town collected and gave a demonstration of their
popularity in the form of a prolonged charivari later in the evening.
The bride was the primary teacher here during the last term of school.
