POTOSI INDEPENDENT-JOURNAL Thursday May 18, 2000 Bonnie June Lane Bonnie June Lane of Union, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 20, 1935 the daughter of the late Lawrence Moses and Nellie (Yount) Moses and passed away Saturday, May 6,2000 in Washington, Mo. at theageof 64 years. She received her schooling in Potosi, Mo. Bonnie was a member of the Baptist Church. She had been employed as a cook at Camp Mo-Val and was currently cook for the Franklin County Correctional Center. She is survived by three daughters: Joan Wagner and husband Allen, Marilyn Due and husband Charlie and Tina Due and her husband Melvin, all of Union, Mo.; one sister, Patsy Carl and her husband, Dale of St. Joseph, Mo.; two brothers, Donald Moses and wife, Barb of Hilisboro, Mo. and Bob Moses of Silex, Mo.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services was held Monday, May 8, 2000at 1P.M. from the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, Mo. with Rev. Kenneth Parker officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery at Quaker, Mo. (west of Belgrade). Wilma Irene Burghard Wilma Irene Burghard of Potosi, Missouri, was born February 6, 1921, in Elvins, Missouri, a daughter of the late David and Stella (Fryman) Douglas. She departed this life at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Wednesday, May 3, 2000, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, two months and twenty-seven days. Wilma was united in marriage to the late Russell Burghard on June 6, 1940, in Ironton, Missouri, and to this union two sons were born. She is survived by two sons, Floyd Burghard and wife Karen of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Henry Burghard and wife Regina of Maple Grove, Minnesota; three granddaughters, Karmen, Karolyn and Elizabeth; one brother, Monroe Douglas of Potosi; one sister, Dorothy Lawson of Potosi and by many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and spouse she was also preceded in death by two infant brothers and one infant sister. Wilma was a longtime member of the Potosi Presbyterian Church where she participated in its’ many activities and enjoyed her many church friends. Wilma enjoyed gospel music and attending bible study. Her family was a very important link in her life’s chain, where each and everyone of them made the next very strong. Her family was not limited to her children and grandchildren, but also included her very special puppy dog, Sam. She will long be remembered for her kind words, friendly smile, warm heart and open ears. A kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. David Mapes David Bruce Mapes of Bloomsdale, Mo., formerly of Washington County, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at his residence. He was born March 17, 1956 at Ironton, Mo., a son of Dorothy (Belfield) Mapes and the late Theodore Mapes, Jr. Survivors are his mother Dorothy Mapes of Festus, two brothers, Mike Mapes and wife Beverly of Potosi and John Mapes of Belton, Texas, two sister Mary Dunn and husband Cliff of Festus and Carol Lee Laird and husband Doug of North Zulch, Texas. Robert Joseph Glore Robert “Bob” Glore of Potosi, Missouri, was born October 24, 1935, in Belgrade, Missouri, a son of Lisborn Glore and the late Norine Berniece (Goodnight) Glore. He departed this life at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Crystal City, Wednesday, May 10, 2000, having reached the age of sixty-four year, six months and sixteen days. Bob was united in marriage to the late Lorene Augusta McKee on June 6, 1953, in Potosi, Missouri, and to this union two daughters were born. He is survived by his father, Lisborn Glore of Potosi; two daughters, Judy Pearson and husband James of Lincoln Park, Michigan and Vickie Glore of Mineral Point; one granddaughter, Monica Bland and husband Bart of St. Peters; two brothers, Larry Glore and wife Ruth of Potosi and Perry Glore and wife Mary of Florissant; three sisters, Betty Becker of St. Louis; Glenda Adams, of Dixon and Mary Root and husband Edwin of Madison, Wisconsin and by many otherrelatives and friends. Bob was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union and the Potosi Elks Lodge #2218. He enjoyed auto racing, and stockcars, and was always willing to spend time with a car owner doing repairs and talking about the next strategy. Blanche Snell Wilma Blanche Snell of Potosi, Mo., passed away Thursday, May 11, 2000, at St. Louis University Hospital at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 11 days. She was born February 10, 1935 at Belgrade, Mo., a daughter of Daisy (Thomlinson) Jinkerson and the late Thurston Jinkerson. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Jinkerson and brother-in-law Jim Thomason. Blanche, as she was known to her family and friends, was married to Bill Snell on December 11, 1954 at Corinth, Mississippi. She was a member of the Belgrade First Church of God. Frank Thomas Francis Harlan “Frank” Thomas, of Viburnum, Mo., passed away Monday, May 8, 2000, at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 15 days. He was born October 24, 1935 at Viburnum, Mo. a son of the late Harrison and Della (Goff) Thomas. Frank served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on October 24, 1958. He attended the Freewill Baptist Church of Viburnum and was a maintenance man for the Viburnum C-4 School District for many years. Darrell Goff Darrell “Bee” Goff of Dittmer, Missouri, was born November 3, 1937 in Washington County, Missouri to Rudolph “Chub” and Ethel Mary (DeGonia) Goff and died Saturday, May 13, 2000 at his home in Dittmer, Missouri at the age of 62 years 6months and 10 days. His parents and one brother, Aaron Goff preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of forty years (married June 13, 1959 at St. JoachimCatholic Church in Old Mines, Missouri), Mary Deanna (Politte) Goff of Dittmer, Missouri; two daughters, Donna M. (husband, James) Melugin of Robertsville, Missouri and Brenda K. Thursday May 25, 2000 Frank Homer Micke Frank Homer Micke, 79, of DeSoto, was born October 10, 1920 at DeSoto, a son of the late Frank and Ann Micke and died at his home Sunday, May 21, 2000. He was a railroad worker, having retired from the car shops in Dupo, Illinois. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Sofe Micke. Mr. Micke was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, DeSoto. Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Micke, DeSoto; four sons, Gary Micke, St. Louis and Glennon and wife Debbie, Larry and wife Carol and Raymond Micke, DeSoto; a daughter, Ruth Micke, DeSoto; four grandsons, Gary Jeffrey, Joey and Cory Micke; four granddaughters, Kelly, Sara, Patricia and Kristen Micke; a great grandson Jared Micke and a great granddaughter, Meghan Micke; other relatives and many friends. Cynthia Dawn Kelm Cynthia Cindy Dawn Kelm of Irondale, Missouri, was born February 23,1967 in Potosi, Missouri a daughter of Marilyn (Lewis) Siddiqui and Mike Eichenberger. She died Friday, May 19, 2000 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital at the age of thirty-three years, two months and twenty-six days. Cindy is survived by her two loving daughters Crystal Barton and Candy Barton, both of Irondale; her mother, Marilyn Siddiqui; her father, Mike Fichenberger of Irondale; fianceTerry Sanzotera of Irondale; one brother, Kenny Eichenherger of Irondale; one sister, Kathy Crump of Irondale; her maternal grandmother, Wanda Lewis of Farmington; her paternal grandmother, Helen Eichenberger of Irondale and by many other relatives and friends. Dolores June Pitts Dolores June Pitts was born May 12, 1933, in Waterloo, Illinois, a daughter of the late Arvol and Bessie (Humphrey) Christisen. She entered eternal rest one day after her 67th birthday, Saturday. May 13, 2000, at her home in Cook Station, Missouri. In 1949, at Crown Point, Indiana, Dolores was united in marriage to Afton Pitts. Three Sons and two daughters were born to this union. They have enjoyed over fifty years together. Dolores was not only a homemaker and mother, but she worked for twenty years for Brown Shoe Company, seven years for Wal-Mart and the past two years she worked for the James Foundation as the museum attendant. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny Scott Pius (age 6 years) and Dale Alen Pitts (infant); also her stepfather Grant Pinson. Fred and Mary Henry A DeSoto couple lost their lives from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Freddie Edward Henry, 62 and his wife, Marie Verneil Henry, 54 were fatally injured Thursday, May 4th, 2000, at 5:30 P.M. on Hwy. 21 South of DeSoto. Freddie had been a forklift driver for Alvey Conveyor, and a member of Teamsters Local 688. He was also a member of the First Assembly of God in DeSoto. Born February 6, 1938 in Washington County, Mo. he was the son of the late Earl and Beulah (Sparks) Henry. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother Margret Henry and two brothers, Alfred Henry and Earl Henry, Jr. Marie had been a home healthcare worker, and was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church. Born May 9,1945, in Potosi, she was the daughter of the late William John and Daisey Verneil (King) Litton. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Litton. They are survived by three daughters: Dorothy (husband Dennis) Kite of Hilisboro, Susan husband Chuck) Hornbeck of DeSoto and Becky (husband Rick) Easley, of DeSoto; a son, Frederick Henry, of Hillsboro, and five grandchildren, Melany Henry, Lindsey Hornbeck, Aleashia, Chelsea and Jordan Kite. On January 30, 1953 at St. Louis, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Sarah Turnbough, daughter of the late Edmond and Beulah Turnbough. One son, Robert Lee, Jr and one daughter ,Jane, were born to this union. They have enjoyed over forty-seven years together. Bob attendeded the First Baptist Church of Viburnum. Anna Sansoucie Anna Elizabeth Cantrell Adams Sansoucie, formerly of Washington County left this life to be with Jesus Sunday, May 21, 2000, in St. Louis, Mo., at the age of 86 years, I month and 23 days. She was born on March 28, 1914 in Mineral Point, Mo., to the late Alfred Eli and Martha Angeline (Wilson) Cantrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, George William Cantrell, Mary Ardale Cantrell Marler, Maude Ellen Cantrell Skiles, Armente Rosette Cantrell Fullwaller, Dora Isabelle Cantrell LaChance, Viola Cantrell Adams, Robert Elmer Cantrell, Joseph Edward Cantrell and Matti Myrtle Alice Cantrell Skiles. She has gone to Heaven to join all her brothers and sisters. Mrs. Sansoucie had two wonderful husbands who she will also meet in Heaven -- Everett Adams and Joseph (Boss) Sansoucie, both of the Potosi area. She also leaves to meet three children, Juanita Marie Adams, William Leroy Adams and Jerry Ray Sansoucie. Ronald was united in marriage to Lana Kay Burns on May 24, 1986, in Potosi, Missouri, and to this union two children were born. He was awarded 4 bronze stars and 1 silver star for the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He also made a Beach Head landing. Thursday June 15, 2000 Maynard Faulkner Maynard E. Faulkner, 66, of Jefferson City died Saturday, June 10, 2000 at St. Mary’s Health Center. He was born April 26, 1934 in Bixby, Missouri, a son of Matthew and Ava (Strickland) Faulkner. He was a graduate of Caledonia High School. He received an Associate’s Degree in Education from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar; a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was also a graduate of the Auctioneering School of Kansas City. Maynard was married February 10, 1996 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit to Marceline Weiberg, who survives at the home. He was an elementary school teacher for six years, and elementary school principal for seven years, and was the high school principal at Val!ey R-6 High School at Caledonia for seventeen years. For the last eleven years, he was a teacher and supervisor of teachers for the Missouri Department of Corrections. He was also a farmer and Certified Auctioneer. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; Masonic Lodge AF & AM Tyro Chapter No. 12 in Caledonia, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2693. Eugene was united in marriage to Grace Lorine Fenstermaker on November 24, 1926, in Farmington, Missouri. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of seventy-three years Grace McFadden of Potosi; one daughter, Dorothy Lorine Roschke of Florissant; four grandchildren, Susan Gerig and husband Allen of Oregon, John Vienop and wife Jill of California, Steven Roschke of Arnold and Linda Morton and husband Kerry of Florissant; three great grandchildren; one brother, Ralph McFadden of Loose Creek; one sister. Eugene had dedicated seventy-eight years to the Masonic Orders, starting with being one of the Charter Members of the First Demolay Order sponsored by the Caledonia (TYRO) Masonic Lodge #12 in 1922. His Freemasonry work started at the former Euclid Lodge #505 (Now Magnolia Lodge) in Jennings, Missouri. Gene was initiated on April 3, 1944, raised to the Degree of Master Mason on June 24, 1944. He was Past Worthy Patron of Jennings Lodge #497, O.E.S. Eugene became more active after moving to California. His involvement included holding positions and life memberships in the Grand Council of Cryptic Masons - King Solomon’s council #29, where he received the “Mason of the Year Award,” presented by the Secretary of the State of California in the 1980’s and life membership in the Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons, Napa, California #30. He presided over Grand Lodge Chapter meetings in British Columbia, Hawaii, Kentucky and Tennessee and the York Rite of California receiving their highest award by the Royal Arch Masons District Council #9 in 1991. Eugene was a fifty-seven year Mason and a fifty-four year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Upon returning to Missouri, he joined the Mount Moriah Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Florissant, Missouri. Eugene and his wife had made many contributions to society especially to the Shriners Hospital for children, where not only they gave financial support but also daily support in prayer to the Lord for the help and well being of all the children. Mabel Akers Gibson Mabel Akers Gibson, formerly of Washington County, passed away Tuesday June 6, 2000, in Camelot Nursing Center, Farrnington, MO., at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 30 davs. She was born April 7, 1907 at Flat River, MO., to the late William Thomas and Bessic Mae (Richards) Furry. Mrs. Gibson was a life long resident of Washington County and was a longtime member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was united in marriage to William Lewis Akers August 8, 1928, and three sons were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death on October 8, 1947. She was united in marriage to Roy Gibson in 1955, and he passed away on March 5, 1979. She was also preceded in death by four brothers; Glen, John, Vernon and Eldie Furry. Those who remain to mourn her passing from this life are her three sons, Junior Akers of Caledonia, Donald Akers and wife, Betty of Caledonia and Jack Akers and wife, Selma of Belgrade;one brother, Calvin Furry of Park Hills; three sisters, Muriel AkersofCaledonia, Rena Mae Bishop and Marie Highley, both of Bismarck; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted 11 A.M. Friday, June 9, 2000, at Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Interment was in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. Thomas Mickey Allen Thomas Mickey Allen of Potosi, Missouri, was born July 7, 1927, in Old Mines, Missouri, a son of the late Thomas and Loretta (Boyer) Allen. He departed this life at St. Antnony’s Medical Center, St. Louis, Monday, June 5, 2000, having reached the age of seventy-two years, ten months and twenty-nine days. Mickey was united in marriage to the late Betty (Jenkins) Allen on June 14. 1964, in Old Mines, Missouri He is survived by many relatives and friends, his association with antique cars brought him many special friends and memories. His love for cars took him to the stock car tracks in the local area where he became a well known figure. Mickey enjoyed spending time watching and participating in baseball rand basketball. Mickey and his late wife Betty had a great love for children and always took advantage of the moments they had with many children that blessed their home. Visitation was held Tuesday, June 6, 2000, from 6 to 9 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. A funeral mass was conducted Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at 10 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Potosi, with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Burial was in New Masonic Cemetery Potosi, under the direction of Moore Funeral Home, Potosi. Bill Foxx Charles William Foxx, formerly of Potosi, Mo., passed away Monday, June 5, 2000, at his home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 29 days. He was born April 7, 1935, in Illinois to the late Elmer and Bessie (Swinford) Foxx. “Bill,” as he was known to family and friends, enjoyed squirrel hunting, raising and training squirrel dogs and playing bluegrass music. He worked for a number of years providing and caring for the horses at the Sunnen YMCA Camp. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country in the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Irma Jean McClain September 2, 1956, at Belleview, Mo. and two children were born to this union. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Foxx. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife, Irma Jean (McClain) Foxx; one son, Ricky William Foxx of Sallisaw; one daughter, Kathy Jean Ritchie of Sallisaw; one sister, Shirley Anderson of Belleview; 3 grandchildren, Erika Lee Foxx, Jessica Nichole Ritchie, Zachary Foxx Ritchie and other relatives and friends. Gerline Eye Gerline Margaret Skiles Eye, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at her home in Mineral Point, Mo., at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 10 days. She was born September 27, 1931, at Mineral Point, Mo., to the late Thomas and Myrtle (Cantrell) Skiles. Gerline was a life long resident of Washington County and had been employed with Brown Shoe Company for over 20 years. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed being with them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Julia Eye; two sisters, Loretta Jennings and Verline Sumpter and two brothers, Curtis and Clifford Skiles; also one grandson, Mitch DeClue. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her former husband, Kenny Eye, one son, Roger Eye and wife Mona of Shirley; two daughters, Brenda Owens of Richwoods and Angie Price and husband Roger of Mineral Point; two brothers, Freddie Skiles and wife, Betty of Mineral Point and Bobby Skiles of Potosi; one sister, Lee Volner and husband Charlie of Arnold; 9 grandchildren, Mindy Dunn, Mickey DeClue, Cody Eye, Jason Benson, Dust.in Eye, Clyde Eye, Misty Price, Roddy Price and Ken Price; also 1 great granddaughter, Sirrina Dunn, other relatives and friends. Interment was in the White Oak Grove Cemetery at Shirley, Mo., under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi. Marian Declue Rodriguez Marian DeClue Rodriguez, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2000, at her home in Potosi, MO., at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 15 days. She was born on December 24, 1941, at Cadet, MO., to the late Rev. Robert DeClue and Olivia (Mason) DeClue. Marian helped her father, Rev. Robert DeClue in his ministry, she was his piano player, secretary and treasurer for many years. She owned and operated Marian’s Glamour Salon in Potosi, and also belonged to the Ladies VFW of Desloge, MO. In 1979 she moved to Houston, Texas, where she met Esiquiel “Zeke” Rodriguez and they were united in marriage on August 2, 1985. Marian loved to sing and entertain, and she and her husband traveled with her band called “The Texas Gamblers.” She wrote and recorded two songs, “Independent .Woman” and “Honky Tonk Queen.” They moved back to Potosi in July 1999. She started attending St. John Baptist Church in Mineral Point, MO., and this brought real joy to her soul and life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Linnie, Leroy and Orville DeClue; also three sisters Margie and Erma Jean DeClue and Marie King. Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving and devoted husband, “Zeke” Rodriguez of the home; one son, Billy Cain and wife, Ann of Kirwood; one daughter, Pam Hoffman and husband, Tom of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; one step-son, Brian Rodriguez of Houston, Texas; one stepdaughter, WandaBurkhardt of Florida; one brother, Donald DeClue and wife, Patty of Potosi; one sister, Margaret Short and husband, Larry of Potosi; two grandchildren, Kyle Cain and Samantha Hoffman; four step-grandchildren, Ryan, Cody, Dillian an Kassie; an adopted son, Jerry Kemper; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other family and friends who she loved and cared very much about. Marian also had a host of friends in Houston, Texas who loved her very much and they will miss her smiling face as those in Potosi will. Funeral services were conducted at 7:30 pm Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Eddie, Timmy, and Mickey DeClue, Mike King, Keith Smith, and Craig DeClue. Graveside services were held 9 am Monday, June 12th, 2000 at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, with prayers and scriptures by Rev. Leon Mosier.
