Before the war
BEFORE THE WAR
Some background information on John Ernest Schroeder
John Ernest Schroeder was born 30 November, 1891 on the Schroeder family farm, about 5 miles south of Troy, Missouri. J. E.'s parents were Wilhelm Carl August Schroeder (born 3 Oct., 1845 in Mansfeld Germany) and Julia Weisbrodt (born 24 March, 1858 in Warren County, Missouri). J. E.'s grandfather immigrated to the United States from Mansfeld, Germany in about 1850, settling in Missouri.
John E. Schroeder was the 6th child of 8 born to C. A. and Julia Schroeder. He also had a 1/2 brother and a 1/2 sister from his father's earlier marriage to Julia's sister, Catherine Weisbrodt.
The Schroeder's were a typical farm family, tending to their livestock and crops, then the world went to war!
John Schroeder was home on leave in April of 1819. These pictures were taken then.
Brothers Fred, John and Bill Schroeder..................We think this is CA Schroeder with John.
