The annual prize shooting of the Ely Rifle Volunteers took place on Wednesday, under the command of Captain .....
The weather in the early part of the day was rather unfavourable. The distances were 200 and 400 yards, five
shots at each. For the first prize Corp. Joselyn and Priv. Dobson tied, with 42 points. In shooting off the
tie Corp. Joselyn made 12 points against Dobson's 11. Priv. Roper took the first prize with 16 points.
