William PALMER& Eliza Ann SHARPE
William, 2nd child and 1st son of William & Maria PALMER, was born in Burwell, Cambridgeshire on 9 October 1854,
and baptised 28 May 1855 St. Mary's Church, Burwell.
William was just 14 when his family moved to Rossendale, Lancashire in 1868; his first occupation was as a mule
spinner in a cotton mill - VERY different from driving steam engines in and around Burwell.
He married Eliza Ann SHARPE of Whittlesea, Cambridgeshire, at Haslingden Registery Office on 26th of February, 1878.

In 1938, William & Eliza celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. The local paper, the "Free Press"
published an article about this on Saturday, February 19, 1938.
