Younather DeSilva PALMER
Younather DeSilva PALMER
16 January 1867 - December 1942
Younather DeSilva PALMER, 9th son of Emmanuel & Susannah, was born on 16 January 1867 in
Methwold, West Norfolk. He was my mother's "Uncle U.D."
From Unather D. Palmer, Tasmania to Jean Matthews, Nov. 11 1983 -
"I don't know why my father became "U.D." - I think his name should have been Jonathan as
J & Y are often written alike (Juan pronounced Yuan in Portuguese). There was probably
some confusion at his registration as none of them were educated."
He moved to Wisbech with his parents, brothers Louis Henry, Angelo Stephen and sister Delphfenia
soon after the 1881 U.K. Census.
By the 1891 U.K. Census, Younather is a "Cycle Agt & Repairer" on the Lynn Road in Wisbech.
In Kelly's Directory of Cambridgeshire, 1896, he is "DaSilva Cycle Agent," Lynn Rd, Wisbech, Cambs.
In the 1908 Kelly's Directory of Cambs - Cycle & Motor Agent at 102,103 & 104, Lynn Rd, Wisbech.
He was married to Fanny Matilda STEVENSON on 21 April 1897, at St Augustine's Church, Wisbech Cambs.
