KINGSCOTE is a parish and village in Tetbury union, containing, by the census of 1861, 311, and in 1871, 255 inhabitants, and 1783 acres; in the deanery of Dursley, archdeaconry of Gloucester, diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, upper division of Berkeley hundred, West Gloucestershire; 4 miles south-west from Nailsworth Station, 5 south-west from Dursley station, 16 south from Gloucester, 22 north-east from Bath, 22 south-west from Cheltenham, and 105 from London. The church is an ancient edifice, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, consisting of nave, chancel, north transept, and porch, with tower containing two bells. The rectory, which is attached to that of Newington Bagpath, is in the incumbency of the Rev. Alan Kingscote Cornwall, M. A., and the patronage of Colonel Kingscote; joint annual value, £320. New National Schools have lately been erected for the children of this and the adjoining parishes of Lasborough and Navington. Colonel Kingscote is lord of the manor and chief owner of the soil. The poor have the interest of £100, left by Mr. White, which is distributed at Christmas.
