College Library, Prescott, AZ. Henry was an early settler, but not
an original proprietor of New Haven, CT. He and Joseph Peck took the
oath of fidelity 1 July 1644. They probably were brothers and related
to Deacon Wm. Peck. Henry's will was dated 30 Oct. 1651 and presented
at the New Haven Town Court 2 May 1654. It was witnessed by William
Pecke, John Moss and Samuel Whithead.
Family History: New England Families #2
(I) Henry Peck, immigrant ancestor, was born in England, and was amongthe earliest settlers in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1638, and was madefreeman in 1644. He and Deacon William Peck, who also settled there in1638, were doubtless relatives and may have been brothers. They aresupposed to have emigrated to America in the company of GovernorEaton, with Rev. John Davenport and others, who arrived at Boston,June 26, 1637, in the ship "Hector". He signed the compact of theoriginal settlers made at New Haven, June 4, 1639, and took an activeinterest in the management and affairs of the settlement. His houselot was in that part of the town now included within the city limitsof New Haven and is still occupied by his descendants. He died in1651, and his will bears the date of October 30, 1651. Nothing isknown of his marriage except that his wife's name was Joan, and thathis will mentioned four children: Eleazer, baptized March 13, 1643;Joseph (twin), mentioned below; Benjamin (twin), baptized September 5,1647; Elizabeth, born March 16, 1649, married John Hotchkiss, December4, 1672.
