John was still in South Dakota in September of 1889 when he was awitness to the wedding of his brother-in-law Samuel D. Bennett.
[44] He was living in the same town as his uncle Lemuel Morse

John was sometimes called Clark. His parents separated when he was asmall child, and his mother moved with her parents from Chemung, NY toAmboy, Illinois. She died by the time he was 8 years old and he wasraised by his Aunt Lucy (Morse) and Uncle Emerson Patten in Amboy. In1860 he was in Minnesota, living as a boarder with a cousin Bartlet(or Michael) Morse and his wife Margaret Bennett, daughter of SilasDavis and Lucinda (Case) Bennett. It must have been here that he methis first wife, Rosetta Bennett.

They were married when she was only 16. They had two children when shedied suddenly in July of 1889 at the age of 22 from an attemptedabortion.

He married 2nd Clara Stivers abt 1892, in Humboldt, Iowa. They hadone child, Alva (born in Iowa), and possibly two others. No trace ofhim after that has been found.
Alvah Bosworth's death record says his mother's maiden name wasQuivey. I have found no records to substantiate this, but myspeculation is that his mother, Clara, may have married a 3rd time toa man by the name of Quivey .
