A daughter of Samuel HarrisDavis, Kezia, wrote the obituary. He was known as S.H. Davis. "...Hedied at his home near Summerville, PA where he had lived for 55 years,moving there from Indiana Co, PA in 1844 with his parents when but 16years of age, this place then being a howling wilderness. After livinghere 1 1/2 yrs, his father died, leaving the mother and children infather's care. He, being strong and robust, went to work fellingtimber, clearing land and building cabins in the forest. by hard laborand economy, he cleared up a good farm and being prosperous inbusiness accumulated some wealth to leave his large family. In 1849 hewas united in marriage with Sarah McLaughlin. To this union were born12 children..."
