[8206] Family legend is that Nathaniel Bennett left his family, went back toCT, remarried and started another family. He returned after Mercy'sdeath and told the family in NY. Daniel was raised by his double auntand uncle, Abraham Jr. and Jerusha Bennett.

Daniel had 24 children of his own by 2 wives and his third wifebrought 7 more children of hers when she married Daniel. They had nomore children. It has been suggested that Daniel was the son of David,the son of Ephraim who was somewhat famous for fighting in theRevolution along with his six sons. I can't document this either sohave tentatively gone with the stories and notes that have come downin the family. Daniel, with his 24 children, named none of themNathaniel, David or Emphraim. His second son was named Abraham, hisfirst son being named Thomas as was the name of his father-in-law.
