[4335] He resided for a time in Providence, but later settled in the town ofScituate, now Foster, in the Moosup Valley. His home is said to be thefirst house built in Foster. He held a grant of 960 acres of land, andbuilt his house on the north end of his claim.
[4332] He was of age when he took the Oath of Allegiance in 1682.
[4333] He witnessed a deed on 21 Feb 1738, but his son John calls himselfJohn Sr. in 1741.
[9323] Since John had a son named Josiah, which is not a Harrington name, itis possible that his wife was a Bennett or a Wilkinson. Both familieswere close to the Harringtons and the name Josiah was common in thosetwo families. (Eddy, p. 38). Some say his wife was Lydia Cranston, butI am told this has been disproved.
