application for Samuel Heslet. [small print reads:
received a gun shot wound of right thigh near hip joint etc...ball passing
through from front to rear producing at the time partial paralysis and followed
by abscesses. also at the same time and place and in the same engagement he
incurred gunshot wound of left thigh. the ball entering from the front inside
and lodging behind the femur. The former has produced weakness of the right leg
and the later has been a - of pain and weakness is continually since and more
recently - because of some change in the position of the ball has produced
marked nervous and muscular - with symptoms of paralysis.
That he was treated in hospitals as follows: I was first treated three or four
days in a temporary hospital in the house of a Wm Stadar at Hartsville and I was
then removed to Gallatin Tenn. where I was treated in a hospital its name and
number of a kind I do not know, for the period of about six weeks]
