The Last Will and Testament of Robert Orme, Sr, Prince Georges Co., Maryland
Item I give & bequeath unto my loving son Robert Orme Jun. all – two packs or parcels of Land – called by the name of Dunbar containing one hundred twenty &five acres –other parcel of land called by the name of Angeles & containing thirty one acres –other parcel of land – belonging to him the said Robert Orme Jun: and to his heirs for ever/provided in ease which is my fond intent –the said Robert Orme Jun pay or cause to be paid unto his brother my son John Orme twenty five pounds current money within three years after my death and in case the said Robert Orme Jun. should make default & not pay the money aforesaid in the – aforesaid the thou and not – I give and bequeath the aforesaid two parcels of land unto my son John Orme & to his heirs for ever/…..but in case my son John Orme should dye within three years after my death that thou my will is that Robert Orme will pay or cause to be paid unto (scratched out: Moses Orme) no other the sum of (scratched out: ---shilling sterling) within three years after my death or when the said Moses Orme shall arrive to the age of twenty one years.
Now I give & bequeath unto my two loving sons Moses Orme and Aron Orme to be divided between them two hundred acres of land part of a tract of land called Brookfield that is to say and- one hundred acres on the east part of the said land where on I now dwell I give & bequeath unto my son Moses & to his heirs for ever—one hundred acres of the said land being the western part thereof I give & bequeath unto Aron Orme and to his heirs for ever. But in case that if either the said Moses or Aron should dye before they arrive to the age of twenty one years that in such case the survivor of them to have & enjoy the whole two hundred acres of land & to his heirs for ever/ and in case both my two said sons Moses and Aron should dye before they arrive to the age of twenty one years that –such case my will is that my son John Orme shall have & enjoy the said two hundred acres of land & to his heirs for ever
Item my will is that when Moses Orme arrives to twenty one years of age that he shall have privilege to take off of the western part of the said land five thousand & four loggs provided he will not spoil or waste my timber –land/```````
Item my will is that Moses & Aron shall live in the house & plantation – I now dwell until Aron shall arrive to the age of twenty one years & that their sister Sarah Tanyhill & her son JohnTanyhill shall live along with them as long as she pleaseth & that they shall all be reasonally maintained in – out of my stock of cattle & hoggs until my executor – afterward shall make up an account with the company and after my debt being paid my will is that my stock of cattle & hoggs shall be equally divided between my four children Robert John Moses Aron & my daughters Sarah son John Tanyhill –looking after the land & be maintained by the work of the land that shall labour on this plantation & if the child JohnTanynill should dye his mother to have his part at – own –and their – to them & their heirs forever
Item I give & bequeath unto my son Robert Orme & his heirs my Negro man called Jack
Item I give & bequeath unto my son John Orme the Negro girl called Bess and her issue
Item I give & bequeath unto my son Moses and his heirs the Negro woman called Bess
Item I give & bequeath unto my son Aron my Negro man called Tom & his issue /````
Item my will is that I give & bequeath unto the child of Robert Orme my grand child one cow & calf with all their future issue to him & his heirs
Item my will further is that all the remainder of my personal estate after debts paid – equally divided between my four children Robert John Moses & Aron & their heirs
Item my request & will is that my executor give my son Aron two years schooling & pay for his -& his cloathing out of his stock if the Negro labour will not satisfy the land
Item my will is that my son Moses & Aron shall be of age to enjoy their - & --of the age of eighteen years.
Item my will further is that what part of the stock of cattle & hogs that shall belong unto my two son Moses & Aron shall be maintained together toward both their maintanance and to be equally divided between them when Moses shall arrive to the age of twenty one years
Item my will is I do hereby make & ordain my loving son Robert Orme and my loving brother William Ranfous executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have ---(in ripped crease) my hand & seal this seventeenth day of January one thousand seven and thirteen.
Further my will is that if my son Moses should marry that they could agree & live comfortably together with my daughter Sarah Tanyhill & Aron my son that that thou Moses shall be at the charge in building a house on the aforesaid one hundred acres of land to live in
I give & bequeath unto my grand child John Tanyhill a red cow called Starr & --with a –yearling by – to his heirs –
My will is that the cow & yearling last mentioned as ---the cow with a heifer by ---that –cow –to my son Aron shall not be added to my estate but remain with their --- to the aforesaid.
