Children of Samuel Stallings Jr.

Eliza Stallings, daughter of Samuel Stallings Jr. & Luraner Butler was Born on 18 Feb 1805 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. She married Eli Melton on 24 Jul 1822 in Harrison Co., Indiana.  Eliza died in Mercer Co, Missouri on 28 Feb 1854.  Eli Melton was born on 6 Apr 1801 in Danville, Boyle Co, Kentucky and died in Mercer Co, Missouri on 13 May 1872.

They had the following children:

i.   Lucinda Melton. Born about 1824 Lucinda married Bennett Crossley. They had 2 children: Rubin (~1846-) and Nancy(~1847-).

ii.  Miranda Ann Melton. Born about 1828 in Indiana, she married Moses Clayton Rhea. They had 5 children: Millard (~1856-), S. W. (~1858-), Milton (~1864-), James B. (~1866-) and Edmond R (~1868-). They lived in Mercer Co., Missouri.

iii. Samuel J. Melton. Born about 1833 in Indiana. Samuel J. married Mary 'Elvira' Barrett. They had 7 children: Eliza (~1852-), Lucinda Jane (~1854), Eli Francis (1856-), Abraham B. (1859-), Margaret (1860-), Franz (~1863-) and Mary E. (1865-).

iv.  Elias Melton. Born about 1836 in Indiana. On 5 Jul 1855 when Elias was 19, he married Abigail Howell, in Missouri. They had six children: Mary J. (~1858-), Eli J. (~1860-), James (~1862-), Margaret (~1865-), Emily (~1868)and Lemuel (1870-). They lived in Mercer Co., Missouri.

v.   Edward Melton. Born  about 1841 in Indiana. Edward married Nancy. They had 2 daughters: Ida (~1864-) and Mary (~1866-)

vi.  Permila Ann. Born on 4 Dec 1842 in Indiana. Permila Ann married Joseph Chambers.

vii. L. J. Born about 1844 in Missouri.

viii.Sarah Ann Melton. Born abt 1845 in Indiana. Sarah Ann married John Stanley. They 2 daughters: Cora A. (~1867-) and Emma L. (~1868-).

ix.  Margaret (~1847-) in Missouri

x.   James. Born about 1847 in Missouri

xi.  Nancy Ann. Born about 1848. She married ? Wharton.

xii. William A. Born about 1849 in Missouri.

Woodford Marion Stallings  son of Samuel Stallings and Anna was born on 17 Apr 1822 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. On 1 Jan 1852 he married Margaret Sears, in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Woodford Marion died on 31 Jan 1876. They had one child: Cora.

Tabitha Stallings, daughter of Samuel Stallings and Anna was born in Nov 1823 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky.

On 24 Dec 1840 when Tabitha was 17, she first married David Hall, in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. They were divorced on 10 Mar 1843 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. They had one daughter Mary Ann who was born on 25 Jan 1842 and died 24 Aug 1856. She is buried in Stallings Cemetery, near her grandparents.

On 6 May 1852 she second married Austin Hough, in Mt. Washington, Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Tabitha died in Bullitt Co., Kentucky on 4 May 1893. She is buried in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Bullitt Co., Kentucky.

Tabitha and Austin had the following children:

i.    Louisa J. was born on 20 Apr 1853 in Mt. Washington, Bullitt Co., Kentucky. She married Will McLaughlin.

ii.   Adeline was born on 7 Aug 1854 in Mt. Washington, Bullitt Co., Kentucky. She died in Mt. Washington, Bullitt Co., Kentucky on 15 Mar 1856 and is buried in Stallings Cemetery, Shepherdsville next to her sister Mary Ann.

iii.  Samuel was born  about 1857 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky.

iv.   Sarah 'Sallie' was born in 1860 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. On 1 Mar 1882 she married James W. Sutt.

Samuel James Stallings  was born on 24 Dec 1825 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. On 23 Nov 1848 when Samuel James was 22, he first married Malvina M. Simmons, in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Born about 1831 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. They lived in Bullitt Co., until about 1851 when they moved to Arkansas.  They lived in Lewisburg where Samuel J. was a physician. Malvina died in Lewisburg, Arkansas on 3 Dec 1854.

"There was a Union church erected at Lewisburg sometime early in the '50's, in which Sunday school also was conducted. This building was sold to Dr. Stallings for some cause unknown, and by him moved away from the place."  

Samuel and Malvina had the following children:

i.    Henry Wiley. Born on 27 Oct 1849 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky  

ii.   William Woodford (1851-1929)

iii.  Edward was born about 1853 in Lewisburg, Conway Co., Arkansas

 On 27 Dec 1855, he second married Eliza Jane Watson, in Lewisburg, Conway Co., Arkansas. She was born about 1838 in Ireland. Samuel died in Lewisburg, Conway Co., Arkansas on 10 Oct 1865.

When Samuel died his son William got custody of his minor children in Bullitt Co., Kentucky:

12 Sep 1874: James R., Mollie, Mary, Sammie Stallings, children of S.J. Stallings, deceased. Guardian, William W. Stallings.   Eliza J. Stallings, mother of children in Arkansas.
 

9 Aug 1874:  S. J. Stallings heirs (not named) Guardian W.W. Stallings. Interest paid.

By 1880 the children were living in Port Remove Twp, Conway Co, Arkansas with their mother. Eliza Jane died in Morrilltown, Arkansas on 21 Aug 1893.

Samuel and Eliza had the following children:

i. James Robert was born on 17 Oct 1856 in Lewisburg, Conway Co., Arkansas.  On 4 Aug 1887 he married Mary Louise 'Lula' Kurtz, in Lewisburg, Arkansas. He died in Morrilltown, Conway Co., Arkansas on 2 May 1931.

ii. Malvina 'Mollie'. Born on 7 Dec 1858 in Lewisburg, Arkansas. On 29 Jan 1885, she married Joseph Jones, in Lewisburg, Arkansas.

iii. Mary was born about 1863 in Lewisburg, Conway Co., Arkansas.

iv. Samuel James was born on 25 Mar 1866 in Lewisburg, Conway Co., Arkansas. James died in Arkansas on 17 Jan 1899.

Janus White Stallings was born on 8 Apr 1830 in Bullitt Co. In 1860 he was helping his mother on the family farm in Mt. Washington. In 1870 he was living with his brother Worden and farming in Shepherdsville.

On 3 Jul 1879 he married Fannie Amelia Frederick, in Bullitt Co. They moved to Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky where Janus was a grocer on 223 E. Market St. They had one daughter Mary F. born Sep 1883.

Janus White died in Louisville on 16 Sep 1915. He is buried in Stallings Cemetery, near his parents.

Worden Pope Stallings was born on 30 Sep 1830 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. On 27 Dec 1857 he married Damaris Carpenter Summers, daughter of Rufus King Summers & Erastus Carpenter, in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. She was born in 1835 in Bullitt Co., Ky.  Worden was a farmer in Bullitt Co. until about 1881 when he moved to Louisville, where he was a grocer. Damaris died in Louisville, Jefferson Co., Kentucky in 1897. Worden Pope died in Jefferson Co., Kentucky on 2 Sep 1913. Worden and Damaris are both buried in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville.

 They had the following children:

i.     Anna "Annie" was born in 1858 in Bullitt Co. She was a music teacher in Louisville. She died in 1900 and is buried with her parents in Cave Hill Cemetery.

ii. Rufus Kingborn was born about 1861 in Bullitt Co. He was a tailor in Louisville at 310 W. Market St. and had three men working for his as a cutter, porter and a tailor. Rufus Kingborn married Eleanor "Nannie" Biggs. She was born on 9 Mar 1870. Nannie died in Bullitt Co., Kentucky on 10 Feb 1946.

They had 2 daughters: Mary Melton and Nannie Biggs
