Sarah ‘Sallie’ Stallings was born abt. 1785 in Maryland. On 15 Jan 1809 she married Richard Brashear. He Born in 1789 in Kentucky, the son of Marsham Brashear and Lucy Phelps. They lived in Bullitt Co., Kentucky where Richard was a farmer. He was also a slave owner and in 1850 he owned 3 slaves. Richard died in 1851 and Sallie died on 16 Mar 1854 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. They had 3 children:

 

          ii.     Barack (1818-1887)

           i.     Richard (~1824-)

         iii.     Sarah (~1826-)

p.397, 17 Mar 1851: "Richard Brashear Jr. Administrator of Richard Brashear, decd, made the motion and court ordered that Benjamin W. Ridgeway, Jeremiah Stallings, Thomas Stallings and Thomas Roasor to appraise the late Richard's personal estate and slaves." Appraisal on household furniture, personal estate, and slaves included Darky, valued at $500.00, a girl Eliza, $375.00, and a boy, George, $325.00.

 

Page 379: Sale Bill presented 29 Mar 1851. Purchasers included Richard

Brashear, Benjamin Brashear, and Sarah Brashear. A sugar chest was sold to

"Old Lady" (i.e. the widow, Sarah) for 75 cents. The slaves were not sold.

 

Page 401: 18 Aug 1851. Appraisal of estate of Richard Brashear approved and recorded,

 

Barack Brashear was born on 8 Apr 1818 in Bullitt Co., Ky. On 31 Dec 1846 he married Sarah E. Hancock, in Henderson, Kentucky. She was born about 1820 in Kentucky.  Barak was a house carpenter/contractor, owning his own business. Sarah died in 1875 and Barack died on 28 Dec 1887. They are both buried in Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson Co,. Kentucky.

 

 

They had the following children:

 

i. Robert was born 28 Apr 1848. On 7 Mar 1877 he married Anna Bell, in Henderson Co. They had 8 children: George E., Lizzie, Harry R., Lucy F., Elizabeth, Joseph and Lute. Robert died 31 Oct 1927 in Henderson Co., Ky

     

ii. Ella was born in Jan 1850.  She married Stephen Gibson.

 

iii. Sarah J. was born in Feb 1852. She died in 1854 and is buried in Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson Co., Ky.

 

iv. Richard was born in 1854 and died in 1855. He is buried in Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson Co., Ky.

 

v. L. F. [female] was born about 1857.

 

vi. William Benjamin was born about 1855. He married Nancy Crowder. William in Mar 1896. William and Nannie had 4 children: Nancy, Fannie, Ella and Elliott.

 

vii. Jeffrey was born on 16 Mar 1862 and died in 1865. He is buried in Fernwood Cemetery.

 

viii. Walter was born about 1861. He learned carpentry/contracting from his father and in 1881 started his own business. He built several courthouses in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. On 6 Sep 1892 he married Maude Lightfoot Johnson. She was born on 12 Sep 1870. They had 3 children: Jennie, Walter and Sarah.

 

Richard Brashear was born about 1824 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. On 4 Sep 1849 he married Elizabeth Ann Ridgway, in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. She was born about 1820. They lived and farmed in Belmont and Pine Tavern, Bullitt Co., Ky. 

  

Richard and Elizabeth had the following children:

 

i. Manerva. Born in May 1850. Died before 1860.

 

ii. Ellen. Born about 1851.

 

iii. N. Born about 1854 and died before 1870.

 

iv. Beverly was born on 9 Jul 1856 in Bullitt Co., Ky. He married Eliza 'Alice' Stallings, daughter of Henry Stallings Jr. & Mary Jane Stader. She was born in Feb 1862 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. They lived in Lebanon Junction, Bullitt Co., Kentucky where Beverly was a farmer. They had 7 children: Robert, Richard, Minnie E., Lilly B., Walter, Birdie and Mary F. ‘Polly’ 

 

v. Mary F. 'Polly' was born in Jan 1861 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. On 1 Nov 1892 she first married Edward Joseph Stallings, son of Wm. Thomas Stallings & Laura Trunnell, in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Edward Joseph died in Bullitt Co., Kentucky on 23 Apr 1911. Polly’s brother Beverly was the administer for Edwards estate.  Polly and Edward had 4 children: Lelia, Frederick, Laura and Howard.

 

 

Sarah Brashear was born about 1826 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky.  She first married John Trunnell, son of John Trunnell & Elizabeth Wells. John Trunnell and Walton Brashear were the signers of the marriage bond.

 

John died on 30 Jan 1851 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Barak Brashear of Henderson Co., Ky was the administrator of John's estate.

 

There was a Cholera epidemic and in a space of 4 months, Sarah lost her husband and three sons.

 

Sarah and John had the following children:

 

i.     Lillian was born about 1845 in Bullitt Co., Kentucky.

Rc’d amt. 20 Aug 1855, in case of Trunnell vs Trunnell heirs; widow's dower deducted. Rc'd amt 21 Feb 1857 from Wesley Phelps, former guardian. Paid C. Tucker for schooling, Dr. Strother for medical account. 19 Dec 1857"

 

ii. James. Born about 1847 and died on 12 Dec 1850.

 

iii. John. Born about 1848 and died on 22 Oct 1850.

 

iv. Charles. Born in Jun 1850 and died on 5 Feb 1851.

 

On 25 Apr 1854 she second married Richard Pierce, in Bullitt Co., Kentucky. He was born about 1820 in Kentucky. Henry Stallings and John Pierce were the witnesses to the marriage.
