Charles Stewart was born about 1784 in New Jersey. Charles married Elizabeth. She was born about 1790 in Fayette Co., Pa. Charles died in Luzerne Twp, Fayette Co., Pa about 1853/54. Elizabeth died in Luzerne Twp, Fayette Co. sometime between 1870 and 1880.

They had the following children:

2 i. Emmanuel D. (~1810-)

ii. Nancy was born about 1817 in Fayette Co., Pa. Between 1860-1880 she lived on her own in Luzerne Twp., and she listed her occupation in 1860 as seamstress. In her father’s will she is bequeathed a ‘lot of ground on which is erected a small brick dwelling in which she now resides situated in Luzerne Township near the Borough line of Bridgeport …and further I will and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy One hundred dollars in addition to what she has had.’ Nancy never married and died between 1880 and 1900.

iii. Charles was born about 1819 in Fayette Co., Pa. He was bequeathed the north part of the land his father owned in Luzerne Twp. In 1850 he was living with his parents and in 1860 he was living with his brother John.

vi. Elizabeth was born abt 1825. In her father’s will she is mentioned as Elizabeth Porter and was bequeathed ‘$500 dollars in addition to what I have already given her.’

viii. Lucinda was born about 1831 in Fayette Co., Pa. Lucinda never married and in 1850 she was living with her parents and in 1860 with her brother John. In 1870 and 1880 she lived with her sister Nancy, keeping house in Luzerne Twp. She died sometime after 1880.

2. Emmanuel D. Stewart was born Sep 1809. In 1840 he married Rebecca, in Fayette Co., Pa. She was born in Apr 1818 in Pennsylvania. They lived and farmed in Jefferson Twp. They both died before 1910. In his father’s will he was bequeathed ‘the farm that he now lives and resides in Jefferson Twp.’

Emmanuel and Rebecca had the following children:

i.    Charles. Born abt 1841 in Jefferson Twp.

ii.   Joseph. Born abt 1845 in Jefferson Twp. Joseph was farming in Jefferson Twp between 1870 and 1880.

iii.  Emily. Born about 1848 in Jefferson Twp.

iv.   Loretta. Born about 1852 in Jefferson Twp.

v.    Emmanuel. Born abt 1856 in Jefferson Twp. He was living with his parent up to 1880.

vi.   Lucinda 'LucyBell'. Born about 1859 in Jefferson Twp

viii. 3 unknown children.

3. William J. Stewart was born in Mar 1822 in Fayette Co., Pa. William J. married Mercia. She was born about 1829 in Pa. They lived in Luzerne Twp in 1850 and in 1860 they were living with Emmanuel in Jefferson Twp. They lived in Luzerne Twp. in 1870 and 1880. William was bequeathed a part of his father’s property in Jefferson Twp.

They had the following children:

i. John R. Born about 1852 in Luzerne Twp.

ii. Franklin P. Born about 1854 in Luzerne Twp.

iii. Eliza. Born about 1858 in Luzerne Twp

iv. William J. Born in Mar 1861 in Jefferson Twp. He farmed in Luzerne Twp. He never married. He died after 1920.

v. George. Born about 1864 in Jefferson Twp. He never married and farmed in Luzerne Twp. He died after 1910.

vi. Charles. Born in Dec 1865 in Fayette Co. Charles married Millie E. She was born about 1875 in Pennsylvania.

vii. Mary C.. Born in Mar 1869 in Luzerne Twp. She never married and in 1920 she was living with her brother William.

viii. Elenor. Born in Aug 1873 in Luzerne Twp.

4. Mary Margaret Stewart. Born on 30 Dec 1823 in Fayette Co., Pa.

On 11 Jul she married Samuel M. Heslet, son of John C. Heslet & Eliza Ann Minor, in Brownsville, Fayette Co., Pa.

5. John O. Stewart. Born on 18 May 1830 in Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. John O. married Elizabeth M.'Lizzie'. She was born in Apr 1839 in Pa. They lived and farmed in Luzerne Twp. In 1920 they lived on Brownsville Telegraph Road, in Luzerne Twp.

They had the following children:

Charles J. Born about 1870 in Luzerne Twp, Pa. In 1920 he was living on the same road, Brownsville Telegraph Road, in Luzerne Twp as his parents. He never married.

James O. was born in Mar 1878 in Luzerne Twp, Pa. He lived with his parents and worked on the farm. He never married.

6. John Stewart. Born in Nov 1865 in Jefferson Twp., Pa. About 1889/90 he married Ettie, in Fayette Co., Pa. She was born in Apr 1866 in Pa. They lived with John’s parents in Jefferson Twp. and worked the farm after his parents death.
