SULLIVAN FAMILY

SULLIVAN FAMILY

Marguerite "Maggie" Sullivan married William Clark Bryan, most likely in Ironwood, MI about 1894. Her parents were Jerry Sullivan and Margaret Channing. Marguerite's birth record was found in Ashtabula County, Ohio births, Volume 1, page 248. She was born July 29, 1876 and is the only child listed at that time for these parents. The other known siblings of Maggie Sullivan are Michael and Katherine (Kate).

Jerry Sullivan, along with his wife and daughter left Ohio and arrived in Ironwood about 1878, seeking work in the mines. Little is known at this time about the Channing family, but hopefully that information will be added soon.

Children of William Clark Bryan & Marguerite Sullivan:
Viola, born August, 1895
William Jennings, 1896
George Jerome, born 1899
Leonard Clifford, born 1900
Gordon James, born 1902
Genevieve, born 1905
Arnold Alexander, born 1908

Jerry Sullivan died in a mining accident in the early 1900's, and it is unknown when or where Margaret Channing-Sullivan died.

Leonard Clifford Bryan was born in Superior, WI in 1900 and it would appear that the Bryan and Sullivan families resided in Ironwood but often left for a while to work in the mines in nearby cities, Duluth and Superior being some of them. It was hard work and a medically and physically unsafe environment, as evidenced by the above article.

As mentioned on the Second Generation page of this site, Marguerite Sullivan died in 1955 in Minneapolis, MN and is buried at Crystal Lake Cemetery in north Minneapolis.

Information is needed on this family! Anyone with information about Marguerite's siblings, her mother Margaret Channing or Jerry Sullivan, please send it in. It will be gladly added to this page.
