Willard Camp background

WILLARD SCOTT CAMP

Willard Scott CAMP was born June 12, 1860, in Jackson, Minnesota, to Samuel St. John CAMP and Adeline WARING. When he was five years old the family moved to Clarence, Iowa. He stayed there until after his marriage on February 2, 1887, to Delia Isabel"Bridget" CORBETT. They were married in Gilbertville in Black Hawk County. Delia was raised Catholic while Willard's parents were Methodists and later joined the Baptist church in Michigan. Willard and Delia claimed membership in the Episcopal church.

Willard was a carpenter and appeared to have a restless nature as they moved quite often. According to his daughter Fannie they moved from Clarence to Rockwell City (Calhoun County, Iowa) to Knoke (Calhoun County); then to Redfield (Dallas County); Missouri; back to Washington, Iowa; Monroe; Osceola; and lastly Chariton, Iowa.

Delia was born November 9, 1866, at Raymond, Black Hawk County, Iowa, just five days after the death of her father. Her parents James CORBETT and Mary "Bridget" McNAMARA (?) were born in Ireland and had six children. Delia grew up in Payner township, Black Hawk County. She died May 21, 1929, in Chariton, Iowa, of malignant hypertension. The funeral was at the home and was led by the minister from St. Andrew's Episcopal church. Willard died November 23, 1929, in Chariton. Willard and Delia are both buried at the Chariton cemetery in Lucas County.

Willard and Delia's marriage record from Black Hawk County, Iowa. Chas. Scott gave an affadavit and the license was #842.

Delia's mother's maiden name appears to be McNamara.

They were married February 2, 1887 and the first witness seems to be Joe Corbett. I don't know if this really her brother John or someone else. The second witness was Nicholas Hinn_ _?. I don't know if the Rev. John N?? was a Catholic priest or not.
