Family Histories:

I like to believe that I have the largest Amelung database in the world - that being my maiden name. I have several family histories which are unrelated to my own but wanted to post them here for others to use. I hope you find them helpful.

Harbort Amelung PDF Version was born 1430, and died 1492 in Germany.  Through this line John Friedrich Amelung the Glassmaker is descended.  Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Amelung was born June 26, 1741 in Heitlingen, Germany, and died November 21, 1798 in Baltimore (New Bremen), Maryland.   This line is also referred to as the "Hameln Amelungs" or the "Glassmaker Amelungs".  PDF Version  Word Version

Hans Andreas Amelunke PDF Version was born in Bornum, Germany, and died August 28, 1757 in Königsdahlum, Germany. He married Hedewig Schieber April 22, 1714 in Königsdahlum, Germany, daughter of Kothsaß Hans Scheifer. She died February 14, 1749/50 in Königsdahlum, Germany.    This line settled in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and went by the name AMELUNKE.  PDF Version  Word Version

Johann Christof Amelung PDF Version was born sometime before 1756 in Germany. Although the location is currently unknown, it is most probably close to the Seesen-Rhüden (Harz) area. He married Ilse Marie Hauenschild before 1774 and it is estimated that she was born before 1756. They had five (5) children, all born in Seesen-Rhüden, Braunschweig, Germany. Descendants of this line go by AMELUNKE and AMELUNG.  They ultimately settled in Gordonville, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, U.S.A.

Christian Amelung of Pilot Knob, Missouri was born 26 Sep 1832 in Klein Rhüden (Seesen), Germany near the Harz Mountains. He immigrated to Jackson, Cape Girardeau County, Missouri around 1846-1847 with his parents, Christian Amelunke and Johanne Marie Friederike Klusmann (Klußmann). Having received Engineering/Machinist training at Iron Mountain, MO, he worked for the Iron Ore Company in Pilot Knob, MO at their Furnace. He lived in Pilot Knob, Iron County, Missouri the remainder of his life with his wife, Johanna Marie Magdalene Bodenstein. PDF Version  Word Version

Johann Diedrich Amelung PDF Version was born before 1800 in Preu�en. He married (1) Maria Catharina Steffen. She was born before 1800. He married (2) Louise Catharina E. Hasemann September 18, 1823 in Evangelisch Kirche, Deilinghofen, Westfalen, Preußen. She was born before 1805 in Preußen. Also included is: Johann Diedrich Amelung born before 1747 whom I believe is related although I don't know how yet. He married (1) Elies Hunold. She was born before 1747. He married (2) Cath. Elies. Johann Henrich "Henry" Amelunck/Amelung HTML Version was born circa 1782 in Prussia, Germany and died in Krakow, Franklin County, Missouri. He married Anna Catharina Elisabeth Schleiker. They had a son named Philipp Amelung who married Sophia Trentmann and also lived in Krakow, Missouri.  I call this lineage the Washington, Missouri Amelungs.
