The 1870 Census shows Emma living with her father John (40), a farmer from Ireland; her mother Jane (40) also from Ireland; a brother John (13) born in New York; sisters Mary J (11) born in New York; Katie (7) born in Illinois; and younger brother Hugh (1) also born in Illinois. She died on 17 February 1897 in Shabbona Grove, Illinois. Emma was buried in Saint James Calvary Cemetery Lee, Illinois.
