Leonard "Pope" MOSS⁹ was born on 2 February 1861 in Oberweis Germany. He immigrated about 1870. He appeared in the census on 1 June 1900 in 49 North Lincoln Avenue Aurora, Kane, Illinois. Occupation hardware store manager.. Pope appeared in the census on 20 April 1910 in 194 Rural Street Aurora, Kane, Illinois. Occupation hardward store manager.. He appeared in the census on 13 January 1920 in 194 Rural Street Aurora, Kane, Illinois.. He appeared in the census on 2 April 1930 in 3684 3rd Avenue Los Angeles California. Pope died on 14 April 1946 in Los Angeles California (at home). Obituary: Leonard "Pope" Moss, 86, former alderman of te Seventh ward and one of Aurora's early settlers, died April 14 at his home in Los Angeles, Calif. where he had made his home for a number of years.
A former proprieter of a hardware store on New York Street, between Broadway and LaSalle streets, Mr. Moss resided here most of his life. He was active here in city politics and was among the local Democratic leaders.
He is survived by 10 children, Minnie Metzger, of Alhambra, Calif., and Frank Moss, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Edward Moss, New York City; Mrs. Irene Kramer, Los Angeles; Mrs. Louise Del Sasso, New York; Sister Herminaguild, Sigel,Ill.; Sister Jermagart, Columbus, O; Marion Gardner, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Mildred Hegenbart, Little Rock, Calif.; and Leonard Moss Jr., Long Beach, Calif. His wife and five children, two of whom were Catholic sisters, Sister Anasin, missionary in China and Sister Anna Mary, who is stationed wiith the Mary Knoll order in New York, preceding him in death. He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Math Schuktz, Aurora; Mrs. Jennie Piff, Downers Grove; Mrs. Katherine Weiten, Aurora and one brother, Henry Moss, Losangeles, Calif. One sister preceded him in death. He also leaves 24 grandchildren and a numer of great grandchildren. The funeral will be held today in Los Angeles. AURORA BEACON NEWSPAPER 4/17/1946.

Mary died on 30 January 1949 in Aurora, Kane, Illinois. She was buried in Saint Joseph Cemetery Aurora, Illinois.
