Gene died 9 FEB 2000 in Thomaston, Upson County, Ga.. at Upson Regional Medical Center. His body was interred 11 FEB 2000 in Thomaston, Upson County, Ga., Upson Memorial Gardens. Services were held at the Church of God; Revs. Ed Rigby and Guy Green officiated. Coggins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
