Descendants of John Self: Fourth Generation 29. William J.⁴ SELF (Andrew Jackson³, Jethro², John¹) was born in Georgia about 1854.

He married Mary Ann SMITH Self in Upson County, Ga., 4 JUN 1872. From Barbara Hamrick's notes; not in marriage records.

He was a resident in the census report in Upson County, Ga., 1 JUN 1870. William J. Self was found in the home of his grandfather Jet Self, listed as Willie J. Self, female, b. 1852.

William applied for a military pension in Upson County, Ga., about 1908. William T. Self was on the Confederate pension list of Judge J.E.F. Matthews (Early History of Upson County), apparently as the orphan of Andrew Jackson "Jack" Self.

William J. SELF and Mary Ann SMITH Self had the following children:

child 13 i. Bertha³ SELF died young.

child + 14 ii. Emma SMITH Donley Peterson was born 23 JUN 1874.

child 15 iii. Edward SELF was born 1877. Edd died 16 AUG 1877 in Upson County, Ga.

child 16 iv. Jesse D. SELF was born 14 JUN 1880.

child 17 v. John H. SELF was born 11 SEP 1886.

child 18 vi. Inez Daisy SELF was born 28 JUN 1887.
