Thomas Wyncoll (L), the eldest surviving son of William Wyncoll (K) was born at Mile End, Colchester, on the 12th February, 1826, and was baptised at Mile End church.

Like his father, and most of his ancestors, be spent his life in the cultivation of the soil, living at home until lie was about 30 years of age. He then commenced operations on his own account at "Moore's Farm," Mile End, and a short time later, on the death of his father in 1866, he also took over the Cuckoo Farm, "belonging to the Colchester Corporation.

In 1869 he gave up " Moore's Farm," and took up the tenancy of the old "Home Farm" at Mile End, which had been held by the Wyncolls since the year 1779. He now held some 360 acres under the Colchester Corporation, and this he farmed for some years with considerable success, but owing to declining years, and somewhat adverse times, he gave up occupation of all his lands in the year 1902, and lived a life of retirement in Colchester.

He married, at Bishopsgate Church, London, on May 8th, 1857, Sarah Ann, daughter of Mark Simpson Scrutton, of Elmstead, Essex, by whom he had four sons and one daughter. The sons are still living, but the daughter, Sarah Ann, died, and was buried at Mile End, in October, 1864.

Thomas Wyncoll, as his father before him, showed a considerable liking for holding the various voluntary parish offices. He was for nearly twenty years churchwarden at the Mile End and St. John's district churches, also Poor Law guardian and overseer, etc., for Several years, at different periods.

His wife, Sarah Ann, died February 2nd, 1886, and was buried at St. John's Church, Colchester, aged 60 years. He died at Colchester on the 11th August, 1911, and is buried at St. John's Church. Mile End, beside his wife.
