4. William Robert "Bob" KNIGHT, Sr.1 was born on 15 Nov 1888 in Prairie Dell, Bell Co., TX. 4,5,6 He was a farmer between 1890 and 1960 in Runge, Karnes Co., TX.1 He died on 10 Mar 1960 in Runge, Karnes Co., TX.7,8 He is buried in the Runge Cemetery, Runge, Karnes Co., TX.8
My Grandpa Knight had a farm in Runge, Karnes Co., TX, and as a kid I would visit.
One day at nap time (hot summer day, everyone took a nap), I had to go to the
out house. I got on the throne and saw a snake in the corner of the out house.
I remembered that I was told not to make sudden moves around a snake. Out there,
there were the huge rattle snakes, so I was scared to death.

services were held at her brother Curtis Marshall's home. She was buried on
7 May 1937 in Runge Cemetery, Runge, Karnes Co., TX.8

Knight's funeral notice read:
She was also known as
Dolly.9 My mother said, my father
Marshall Lee Knight wanted to call my sister Dorothy Lee Knight, who was named
for my Grandmother, "Dolly" but, mother didn't want this so she was
called "Dotty."

Slowly, ever so slowly, I pulled up my britches, and crept to the door. Once
out the door, I screamed and hollered, "Grandpa! Grandpa!!, there's a snake
in the outhouse!!! Grandpa came running with his gun. We got on the tractor
and chased that ol' snake all over the farm, 'til finally we found it, and Grandpa
shot it.
It turned out to be just a Huge old garden snake. It had red and black stripes,
not the red and yellow bands, remember "red and yellow, kill a fella."
So, anyway, that poor Garden snake met his death that day and we had quite an
exciting "nap."
He was married to Dorothy Lee "Dolly" MARSHALL on 17 Dec 1915 in
Runge, Karnes Co., TX.6,9
Died Thursday, May 6, 1937 at 10:10 P. M.
