144. Thomas BILES 76 was born about 1720.  He died in 1784 in Rowan Co., NC. He was a Wheelwright & farmer in Rowan Co., NC.   He signed a will on Sept 18, 1781 in Rowan Co., NC.

    Daniel Biles was the son of Thomas Biles, b. 1700/1720 d. 1784 Rowan Co. NC and wife Elizabeth Unknown, b. 1700/1720, d. 1796 Rowan Co. NC. They were married about 1740 in PA or NJ and moved to Rowan Co. between 1752 and 1757." 

    From the Revolutionary War File of Charles Elms/Elloms/Ellums:
    IV. Affidavit from Rowan County Pension Records, 1802 attesting to Charles’ loss of an eye. "Ellums, Charles.  Certificate: ‘I do hereby certify that Charles Ellums served as a soldier in the continental line in this state, during part of the last war, that he served under the command of Capt. Jacob Turner, to whose company I was Lieutenant, that Capt. TURNER was killed & the said Charles Ellums was wounded with loss of his eye whilst in the service of the United States.

    Thomas Biles and Elizabeth were married before 1744.

Elizabeth was born about 1720. She died in 1796.

child i. Joseph T. BILES was born about 1744 in New Jersey. He was living in 1790 in Rowan Co., NC.109  
child ii.
Charles Stephens BILES112 was born on 22 Sep 1747 in New Jersey.112,110  He was living in 1790 in Rowan Co., NC. 110 He was living in 1832 in Henry Co., TN.  Pension applied for in Henry Co., TN.  He died after 1832.  The 1790 Census indicates that Charles was married and had probably about 9 children, perhaps 7 sons, and 2 daughters.

Thomas BILES109 was born about 1752 in New Jersey.110  Thomas Biles was age 80 years old when he applied for his pension in 1832.  He died on 31 Dec 1844 in Stanley Co., NC.(747)  He must be the Rev. War Soldier.

Daniel Samuel BILES111 was born about 1755.  He died in 1835 in Rowan Co., NC.

    Note from Anne Ponder in information she received from her Aunt:
"Daniel Samuel Biles of North Carolina had 3 sons who moved to Tenn. in 1804.
    1. Joseph Biles - wife Fereby Meadows-mentioned in census.
    2. John or James Biles, b ca 1782 married Margaret Barnett and she m. 2nd to James Blue and lived in Crittendon, KY. 

    Their children:
       A. Charles Biles, b 1809, m Sarah Wright Usher
       B. James Biles, b 1812, m Nancy Merry Carter, widow of Wiley Biles of Yazoo, 

        Miss.
       C. Margaret Young Biles m John Hampton Gay 12-21-1831
    3. Jonathan Biles, b 1872, m Mary Polly Barnett (mentioned above)."
child v. Jonathan BILES was born about 1757.  He was living in 1790 in Rowan Co., NC.109 Jonathan had perhaps 2 sons, and 4 daughters.  He died before 1804 in Rowan Co., NC.  The 1790 Rowan Co., NC census indicate he was married and had a number of children.
