Obituary - Woodstock Sentinel Review 10 Apr 1939
The funeral service of George S. Collens, railwayman for the past 20 years, whose death occurred in Hamilton on Wednesday last, was held on Saturday afternoon from the residence of his sister, Mrs. B. J. Brown, John Street. The service was in charge of Jehovah's Witnesses, of which deceased was a member and was conducted by Mr. Plett of London. A service in Hamilton Friday afternoon was also largely attended by fellow employees of the C. N. R. (Canadian National Railway). A profusion of flowers testified to the esteem in which the late Mr. Collens was held.
Bearers were Clarence Brown and E. W. Town of Woodstock, Hubert Collens and P. Bennatt of Hamilton, Beverly Collens, Preston and Charles Newton of Stratford.
Interment was made in the Anglican Cemetery, Friends and relatives were present from Stratford, Detroit, Preston, Hamilton, Port Dover and other points.
George married Mary Lockhart.
