Allen Jones Saunders
Allen Jones Saunders, 78 years old, died at his home in the Lone Valley section
last Thursday after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Friday at the
Lone Valley Baptist Church by Rev. B. E. Settles and burial was in the Brookside
Cemetery. Mr. Saunders was a native of Wayne County and was born there on July
23, 1862. He went to Texas early in life and remained there until 32 years ago
when he came to this county and has since made his home there and has engaged in
the mercantile business and farming. He was twice married: first, to Miss
Louzenia Robertson of Adair County, and to this union four children were born:
James E. Saunders, Fort Worth, Texas; Mrs. Fannie E. Faulkner, Campbellsville;
Woodward Saunders, San Diego, Calif.; and Nellie Gray Saunders, who died in
infancy. He was married the second time to Ermine Catherine Lane, of Taylor
County, and to this union five children were born: Robert L. Saunders, Detroit,
Mich.; Mrs. Annie L. Russell, Campbellsville ; Mrs. Katie L. Rucker, Taylor
County; Mrs. Carrie L. Warf, Greensburg; and Mrs. Lula Stewart, of this county.
He is also survived by one brother, T. W. Saunders, Henderson, Texas.
Pallbearers were: James Davis, Jack Davis, Ray Davis, Frank Dudgeon, and James
