Charles Barker filled out papers declaring his intention to become a citizen of the United States on the 2nd of June 1869.    On the 4th of June 1869 he settled on the land he was to homestead in Taylorsville, Salt Lake, Utah.  (See Homestead Papers)

He became a citizen of the United States on the 28th October 1874.  On the 28th of October 1874 he was given the title to the 160 acres of land he had been homesteading for the past 5 years.
