Marie was the seventh child and fourth daughter of Charles Willard and Elizabeth Duncombe Barker.  Born 10 October 1903 in Taylorsville, Salt Lake, Utah and died 22 July 1991 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah.  She married Willard Taylor Shell 10 October 1922 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah.   They were the parents of eight children; six sons and two daughters:  Willard Barker, Milo LaMar, Clinton Ray, Bernadine Marie, Franklin Keith, Harvey DuWayne, Elizabeth Mae and Douglas Eugene Shell.
