Ott listings in Pennsylvania German Pioneers as emigrating from Wertheim to PA in 1750's

OTT, JOHANN HEINRICH - Lindelback (1754)

May 20, 1754; is loaded with debts. Now has opportunity to leave the country with his brothers. "Bread is dear for us, when we can raise not a load of grain, and the other people are poor too, and can give use nothing," etc. The government's decision was: manumission costs 3 florins, which he may borrow meanwhile from his companions, and can pay back in Pennsylvania. Is listed among the passengers of the boatman Selig (cf. Kiesecker). // HEINRICH OTT, with LENHARDT OTT, and other Wertheimers, Ship Phoenix, October 1, 1754 (Hinke, I, 627 ff.) One HENRY OTT, farmer, was taxed in Upper Milford Tp., Northampton (now Lehigh) Co., Pa., in 1772 (3PA, XIX, 10); another appears with other Otts in Bedminster Tp., Bucks Co., Pa., in 1779 (3PA, XIX, 93 ff.)

OTT, JOHANN NICOLAUS - Hasloch (1752)

May 24, 1752: single, son of HANS BERND OTT's widow, wants to go to New England. His mother wants to him 5 florins to take along. Mentioned as emigrant in the Village Mayor's Report for Hasloch (1750-1761): "Johann Nicolaus Ott, single, son of Hans Bernd Ott's widow. His mother could give him only 9 florins to take along, because she is a poor widow." // JOHANN NICKOLAUS OTT, Ship Phoenix, November 2, 1752 (Hinke, I, 502), with other Wertheimers. NICH'S OTT, Northamptom Town, Northampton Co., Pa., 1785 (3PA, XIX, 112 ff).

OTT, LEONHARD - Hasloch (1754)

May 10, 1754: has for some years so gone into decline and indebtedness, that he does not know how to help himself anymore, to look after his wife and children in these times of scarce bread. Wants to go to Pennsylvania, with his wife and 5 children in age from 1 to 15 years. Has 463 florins, 23 kreuzer remaining. Owns many fields, vineyards, meadows, and gardens. Mentioned as emigrant in the Village Mayor's Report for Hasloch (1750-1761): Leonhard Ott, with wife and children. Is listed among the passengers of the boatman Selig (cf. Kiesecker). // LEONHARDT OTT, with Heinrich Ott, and other Wertheimers. Ship Phoenix, October 1, 1754 (Hinke, I, 627 ff.). It was possibly a son of his, JOHANN PETER OTT, who married Sophia Catharine Koechler, in 1762, at St. Michaelis and Zion Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, Pa. (PGS Proceedings, XIV, 124); witnesses were Christoph Englert, LEONHARDT OTT, and JOH. JAC. OTT.
