: it'd be great if i just found a relative that i didn't know about somewhere in the world, if you're last name is Moy, please email me, i know it's a pretty rare last name, but if your last name is moy, then it'd be greatly appreciated if you'd contact me by email, who knows? maybe i have a long lost sister somewhere =)
Actually "Moy" is not as rare as you might think. I've found a wealth of information about Chinese surnames at http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~chinesesurname/ and specifically about the "Moys" on one of the links on that page at http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~chinesesurname/s145.html
Also check out the first Moy at another link at http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~chinesesurname/wingting.html#origin

There are a lot of Moys in Chicago close to where my dad (Moy, Yet Chew) and mom (Ng, Fung Thew) settled in 1947. We lived in northern Indiana. My parents' ancesters were from the Taishan village, Guangdong province, but then so are most of the Moys. What complicates your search is that there are a lot of "paper" Moys - illegal immigrants who purchased the papers of a legal immigrant who happened to have the name "Moy" Many of these "paper" Moys don't know that they are closet Wongs, or Chins, or whatever. Makes it kind of interesting!

Have fun!
