: Hi There,

: Like you I have been tracing my roots and found this site provide the LOKE surname origin. TRy this site - www.chineseroots.com...

: : No I don't but I will try. Thanks for your reply.

: : I'm just very confused at the moment...how Anglo-Saxon and Asian surnames can be similar. Sorry just clueless!

: : Thank you!

: : : Do you have the character? It's really hard to tell from the attempts to put it into English. There isn't really any standardization.

: : : My guess is that it's "lok" first character for camel. This is the Cantonese pronounciation. The Gov. of Washington (I think he's still gov.) is a "lok". His name is Gary Locke. Most people pronounce it "lock" in English.
Hi, I am a chinese, yes there are Europeans surmaned LOke or Lok mainly from Scandinavia(northern Europe) I know this because I was invited to a reunion from the Loke clan a few years ago by mail. But in chinese Loke means earth or land and it is the second character of China (Big Land or Big Earth )so please don't get confuse if you are Chinese or a northern european, it is spelt the same but completely different. Cheers. Yuen Loke.
