I did some snooping around on the name Achiu in Oahu, Hawaii. First, the latest phone book for Oahu does not contain any listings for the surname Achiu. Secondly, there is a street in the town of Haleiwa named Achiu Lane.....Haleiwa is located smack adjacent to the town of Waialua (you said your great grandfather once had a store and a blacksmith shop in Waialua). Haleiwa might have been a part of old Waialua back then. Finally, there is a Walter Achiu reported to have been born in Waialua to a Chinese father and a Hawaiian mother in 1902. Obviously the Achiu name made its mark on Waialua......with a street named Achiu Lane in Waialua and a native son from Waialua named Walter Achiu, this has got to be more than just a coincident especially when you had mentioned that your great grandfather Leong Achiu used to have a store and a blacksmith shop in Waialua.
