Help!. Our great-grandfather, Gong Moy (son's social security application listed him as: Moy, Ni Chee), born 1860 in China, lived in CA when he met and married Mamie Chin. 1920 US census has YU CHIN MOY as the wife of Gong Moy. The census says she was born in CA and I have 1882 as her birthdate. Gong Moy and family moved east where he become one of the first two Chinese to settle in Washington, DC. This side of our family is not "paper," and comes from the Kwangtung Province, on the southeast coast of China.

Our grandfather and Gong Moy's son, Samuel Gong Moy, was the first Chinese born in Washington, DC in 1898. Not speaking chinese ourselves, and being third generation, a search of this nature is pretty intimidating.

Any information or suggestions you have, would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Carol Moy Daniels
and Donna Moy-Bruno
